oh boy, if you could do a video talking about picking disc detainer locks, the modifications you made on your pick, and other related things that would be amazing. there's not a lot out there about that particular style of lock!

Would really like to see if the retainer holding in the core could be easily defeated. I do not see the subsequent video you intended to make about it. I have a FJM lock I believe is the same. I bought the Sparrows pick you helped design and this lock to learn how to use it.

Hum, how frequently do we need to fear that kind of sophistication in lock picking and tools to worry about. Seemed to me a very secure lock for any lock application.

I wonder -- are there any cheap disc detainer locks with removable cores? You could then carefully file false gates onto the discs and improve them.

Nice to see you finally going after disc detainers.

Is this LPL's first disc detainer video?

I figure anytime you need a special tool form the lock is more secure than one that can be picked with simple tools.

I have an Abloy PL 342 that looks almost identical to this. Hopefully it's Protec2 core is a little more difficult to get into. :)

Is there any videos showing how to pry open the retaining ring of the other Chinese disc detainer lock? I would like to see that.

The Lock Picking Lawyer. I could really use your help. I have a FJM Security disc detainer lock, that I believe is the SAME lock as this in design, but I'm not 100% sure. I can't get it to tension from the front with these cheap Chinese picks. I was thinking it might be a rear tension lock, but I bought a rear tension pick and it's one of the cheap ones again, so even after grinding it down to where it fits I can't get any tension/feedback. What am I doing wrong? I'd even consider sending you this lock. Also, I have seen you use more expensive disc detainer picks here; where can you buy these from?
@markleng677 жыл бұрын
Glad to see you attacking disc detainer locks. Is your tension pretty stiff with these as well as pin tumblers? (I couldn't tell...)

Is a destructive keyway pry attack and gutting video in the works for this lock? I'm curious as to whether it is any better than the usual Chinese disc detainer in terms of vulnerability to being disemboweled.
@lockpickinglawyer7 жыл бұрын
+socialmarauder you definitely can't pet this one with a screwdriver... I may try the slam hammer at some point.

Where can I buy disc detainer locks? Everyone on youtube has several to pick but I can't find one anywhere lol. I bought a disc detainer lock pick but the only locks I can find online ( google, amazon, ebay, etsy ect.) are the clear plastic ones. Frustrating. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.
@sarumayne5 жыл бұрын
I got a couple of mine off of ebay just by searching "disc detainer locks". Both are Chinese made, although I'm sure you can go through LPL's videos and find some higher quality ones made in Europe

What is a good basic clear pad lock pick set to start learning with?
@markley027 жыл бұрын
Dylan Jones IMO clear locks aren't really worth it. The first lock I ever picked open was free. I picked it with 2 paper clips and it had 2 spool pins.
@narrowurethra1827 жыл бұрын
markley02 I have an old brinks lock that I can pick open with paper clips (I really don't pick it so much as rake it) , I just figured a clear one would help me visualize what I'm doing better and practice picking each pin instead of just raking an old cheap lock.
@DonzLockz7 жыл бұрын
Dylan Jones eBay has a ton but Sparrows do a good clear one I believe. Bosnian Bill I think reviewed it maybe, cant remember.
@SpikeMoby7 жыл бұрын
Dylan Jones to be honest you’re better off spending a few bucks more and getting the sparrows progressive practice locks. They’re milled windows and will allow you to get a real feel for feedback while seeing what’s going on. (Bosnian Bill has a recent video on them) kzbin.info/www/bejne/oGGbapKvgpZ1m9E Steer clear of the clear padlocks as they’re junk.

He could not pick a Abus 20/70 PLUS. He picked a Abus 20/70, but could not pick the plus one. So I would go with one of them. However it might not be hard to drill that one out as it is small... Another one he said is good is the Abus 37RK/80, he could not pick that one either and it's a lot sturdier, so no one would be able to drill that out. He has a video on which locks he thinks are the best. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gmfMfqB5iMaseLM

the disc retaining theory will NOT WORK on the spiral snail locks. no binding, no sets, no restance, no picking!

Here's the deal....if anybody besides you isn't at where this lock is locking my stuff, then what's the problem? I don't think that any average idiot looking for any lock to pick would even bother to pick this lock in the first place....so.....this is a good lock????....I think so!
