Hi Maayan, after watching a few of your vedios this one convinced me to subscribe. You are a natural born story teller love how you present the story. Please keep up the female solo vedios. There are so many male expats in Thailand it is inspiring to see solo females. I hope to make the move to Thailand in 1 yr so this was very inspiring as I am in my early 50s.
@AmyTee122 жыл бұрын
I agree with you, and love how Maayan finds women to interview. Thailand has always seemed like a western man's playground, and since we women experience Thailand in a very different way, it is nice to see Maayan's interpretation through her lens.

@amy t Thank you for sharing your story so honestly, you will be inspiring women to follow their dreams even though it is scary. There are so many male expact KZbinrs out there and young solo female travellers but hard to find any in our age group...so thank you, your story definitely resonated with me.

So wonderful to read all of your comments. Yeah, Thailand can definitely have that reputation of being a man's playground but that is seriously just a very small part of Thailand which can be just in your face in some areas but in many others, like ours, it's a place for everyone, men, women, Thai and expat of all ages. Everyone is welcome and enjoying this very special place in their own way. I definitely will tell more ladies' stories but I plan to keep portraying a variety of people. Next week, a Thai reggae bar owner! (If I manage this in time, that's always the question...)😅😅😅 Thanks for all your support you beautiful ladies ❤️❤️❤️

Thais don't care what age of expats come to leave here as long as you get along well with the locals not arrogant, be humble. Mostly Thais welcome all Expats, no matter gender you are. My recommendation is PKK, Prachub Kiri khan, down south of famous Hua Hin. There are Expats living peacefully near the beach. Kare mom of Chuck(no time to be sad channel), 70 years, American live alone.

Well…I like your video a lot Mayan. Just to share a bit there are Thais who also think about tomorrow and future as well. But those Thais are from a different group of the society and mostly live in a city and well-educated. Thailand has 60 mils population and we have a lot of diverse group of people in term of mentality…I believe more diverse than Europe.
@SweetLifeLanta2 жыл бұрын
I do very much agree with you on this. The more Thai I speak and the more I get to know Thai people, the less I feel the need to say anything in general about "Thai people". There are rich and poor, highly educated and "streetwise", extremely hard working or soooo lazy, think about today only, or plan about the future (too much even), they come in all shapes! I'm gonna continue these portraits of people on the island and show all kinds of Thai people too, promise! Thanks so much for watching and for your comments and please keep them coming!

Excellent as always. One thing that resonates with me is Thais only living for today and not particularly concerning themselves about the future. I've been around that for near on 30 years. There is no convincing either my wife or her daughter that it is a good idea to put money away for a rainy day. Their attitude is you die you cannot spend then.. Not sure that is a general thing but stands out in my household. Pity about the next 20 odd years you might live like a pauper. Very sad really. Top notch video as always Maayan. Thankyou 🤩
@Min-ro7cz2 жыл бұрын
Not all Thais are only living for today. If you see and hangout with middle class, educated and professional people, you would know that we are also forwards-looking people. Thailand has 60 mils population and we have diverse group of people from different mentality. Yes…there are such group of Thais who only living for today and there are large groups with such mentality but it does not mean all of us are thinking that way. But unfortunately a lot of foreigners especially white people always end up with such group of people and not those with professional and middle class background. Can someone here answer me why?

@@Min-ro7cz Hi perhaps some are surching for this life-feeling to live for today and not thinking of tomorrow ? we encounter sometimes people they have something we miss... to be middle class and educated and professional isnt anymore the best way of life in this hustle bustle busy stressfull exhausting world ? i admire Thai people in all their ways of life, and they are educated !
@SweetLifeLanta2 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with what you say. My husband is Thai and one of the most "thinking and saving for the future" people I know. The longer I live in thailand, the more I feel that you it's difficult to say anything in general about Thai people, as like you say, 60 million people are all so different. But no worries, soon coming portraits of Thai people too of all kind! Big hugs to you and thanks for watching!

@@SweetLifeLanta Yes clearly not an across the board thing. Just Jessica's comment that stood out for me personally. My wife being from a poorer rural family and they never had any wealth and her extended family had always lived that way, financially from day to day. Given the opportunity to change all that by coming to Australia meant for them is spend, spend, spend including the thrill of the gamble which the Thai community here appear to enjoy whether it be within their parties they have or nights out to casinos and clubs. Maybe I am partly to blame for that losing control of it over the years. Your and Mon's achievements together are spectacular and have been a hell of a lot of hard work together. This lady is not living in Thailand, she is living in her own world. How do you live 14 years in a country and not speak the language, nevermind adopting the culture?
@ItsLi90 Жыл бұрын
Not that uncommon, i come from a thai/chinese mixed fam in thailand but was mainly raised in germany and 95% of a lot of thais i know, who live here in germany are VERY basic in speaking german ( includes my mom who lives in germany for 20+ years already), same with quite a lot of turkish people i got know trhoughout my live in germany (mostly the older turkish ppl , all parents from friends that i had in germany , i was never able to really talk with them ). Anyways, fact is, its not that rare that ppl either cant speak the language at all except very few words like hello, bye and thank you or quite basic only. Thats just how it is, right or wrong. + personally i think its fine if ppl speak learn to speak the language at least basic (enough for small conversations) if they live in thailand, but anything else im also not really concerned about it. People are ok enough with english in many places , a bigger concern would be for example countries in asia like Japan ,where ppl speak much less english or often times avoid it, when a english speaker needs help etc.
@jessicaschoefer Жыл бұрын
I am this Lady who doesnt speak perfect Thai. It is very hard for me to learn a new language. I am trying my best but the language isnt all to be part of a different culture. There is so much more to it!
@SuperBotanica6 ай бұрын
I have also been living here in Thailand for many years. Learning this language was never a goal for me because it makes no sense if you are not with a Thai man 24/7. As a single woman you are at a disadvantage compared to foreign men. 95% of them either have a Thai wife or frequently changing Thai partners. English is the world language, which the new generation of Thais is slowly understanding. You should also have an affinity for languages. I speak a little Russian, French and Italian, but Thai is a tongue twister and not a melodic language to my ears.
@Nick-ux1jk Жыл бұрын
sorry if this is a daft question but how were you able to build a home in thailand? i want to do the same but seems very difficult as a foreigner that is not married to a thai.
@SweetLifeLanta Жыл бұрын
You are allowed to own a house but not land. So if you want to buy land, you need to do it either with a Thai partner or with a company. So it is definitely possible but you will always have to have a Thai partner in your business and/or land (but you don't need to be in a love relationship).
