What a great and interesting video. I did not know about the noise source board. I have a Rigol DSA815TG and three each top of the line Antenna Analyzers. BUT, I could not resist getting the NanoVNA H4 as well as the TInySA. They are just two tools that are too good to be true. It's not easy carrying a Rigol spectrum analyzer, battery and a DC to AC inverter around on you body hunting for a noise source. But the TinySA sure makes that job easy. I just received the NanoVNA H4 yesterday and now I have to learn my way around the menu maze. It's do-able but I would not call it user friendly. Thank for posting the above video. Barry, KU3X

what is exactly tracking generator how it works in SA ?

SA sweeps the filter inside the SA: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jHbCm6iYrsZ1grM the generator needs to be at the correct freq for the filter to pass it. 'tracking'

Did you notice you are using a NOSE source?

or if we don't have Noise generator we can use vco and sweep instead right ??

yes, but you need to max hold since the two are no synchronized. I show that is one of my videos

can we use Zener diode or and 4148 diode as noise generator i heard that during Avalanche effect it produce noise don't what would be it's Noise frequency range ?

I really appreciate you testing this so extensively. A question on adapters, I see sma adapter kits all over and even bought a couple but they looked pretty sketchy for rf work., any recommendations on a reliable source? Also which would you recommend as a source of tiny sa, the tinysa web page lists r&l electronics and alibaba? And of course as a suggestion for future video a course of tests to check connectors for the frequency range of the equipment. Thanks again for all your great work.

interesting video, this method also helps with checking the bandwith of an amplifier. I love how the chinese source saiys nose instead of noise. ;)

Greetings.. Thanks for video. I used the TinySA to measure the channel power ( using the same noise source / build date) (100K-350Mhz) and it came out as +18.4dbm, which is the same value as listed in your comments. Please, The seller has listed the ENR for the 350Mhz and below as around 58 dbm. I have tried to determine how to calculate channel power (verify the measured + 18dbm level), and I am failing. Seems like it would be easy to get an estimated value. Any idea on how to calculate the channel power based on bandwidth and ENR values. Thanks

I don't know much about this other than it does require RMS measurements. The TinySA with it's digital filters, probably does not do RMS. The math to calculate the total power in channel would be TinySA specific.

How can you measure an antenna using a network analyzer?

Great! Another one method could be using old trusted scalar analyzer like NWT.

Yes that would be the most accurate!
