That reminds me of the street in front of our High School in the mid 70’s. Every morning any kid that had a V8 would be out on the street in front of the school with a bunch of other kids just doing hole shots for as long as we could before the cops would eventually get around to showing up. One morning we had a State Highway Patrolman show up & just told us to knock it off, then as he was leaving he proceeded to smoke the rear tire on the ‘72 Plymouth Fury he was driving. Great times back then that bring great memories today! Good Day Everyone!

Gotta love 55 Chevy drag cars. Brings back some great memories for me. 1969, my 331ci Corvette small block (500+hp), 4 speed, 4.88's in my 55 210 2 door Chevy street car. Come off the line at around 4K shift at 7800 and ran a best 11.96 at 114+mph. Ah yes, the good old days. I loved banging those gears !

High rpm small block, muncie and 4.56 or 4.88 gears was the std back in the 70s/80s I really miss that time. Many guys had them as dailies. 11s is still cooking today let alone in the 70s

@@gordocarbo Thanks. I worked in a speed shop 6 years part time [while in college full time] late 60', so I couldn't drive a slouch. After I sold my 5-5 (big mistake) in '70, I picked up a 64 Chevelle 2 door hardtop, 6 cylinder stick. 6 months later the Chevelle was sporting a slightly modified 68 - 302 Z28 motor, Pontiac Muncie 4 speed and a 66 GTO posi rear with 3.90. Oriiginally silver, painted 68 Caddy Nottingham Green (Emerald). Car was quick as it was so light (3100 lbs+ w/o driver). Had this car for 10 years before I sold it (another mistake). Another gear banging, high RPM small block (8200 max). By the way the 5-5 was painted 69 Caddy Sapphire Mist blue.

Awesome. I was 15-17 in early 70s an drive a gutted 66 Chevelle with 427, 4speed with 488 gears. Dumping clutch at 5 grand an hooking gears was great. Love watching these Gassers. Best damn racing an drivers out there👌👍👏🍻I only got into 11 teens. Fast for me at time

The wiper's lol i have a 53 bel-air ls3 6speed and when i get on it hard i have the same issues with the wiper i guess the chevrolet guys didn't think there cars would be hauling at 150 mph +.
