GM installed those “internal stiffeners” near where the frame kicks up both in the front and back. I worked on 2 different’55 frames this past year. On one frame the stiffeners were riveted into the frame, on the other it was installed with rosette welds.

should have the new frame rails on the inside ID of the original frame to gain the extra 1½" - 2" on each side, that way you would have 16½" or 17" on each side instead of 15" then could put 15" wide tires instead of 12's or 13's

@@rats56 I gave that some thought but decided with the mini tubs I have enough room for the tires and wheel size I'm gonna run. Also it's just easier because the frame lines up better with the rear body mounts and has more room inside the rails where my springs are getting relocated. Too big a tire and you get that pro street look and that's not what I'm looking for.

It's good to take a measurement in an x pattern before you cut it... then when your news rss are on level them up , get you x measurement from a pick up point on the front frame to to a pick up point on the rear then you now it should be square
