Another terrific example of the variability of gardens across the globe. Certainly an important step towards sustainable food systems. I'd love to hear your input as to how cities and the suburbs should be making attempts to lessen the burden that agribusiness has on ecosystems and the wider environment - especially apartment dwellers. Great job!❤

I just ordered my comfry today and my elderberries are rooting. I have chickens and am adding Kakhi Campbells next year. So I will be building up my soil and adding a few things as I go. Thank you.

Hi Morag...what an amazing beautifully planned food forest you have. I am so glad I stumbled upon your video. I live in Christchurch NZ and have retired from the workforce to move North back to the family farm to grow a food forest. The hillsides are covered in Manuka, Tree Ferns, Nikau Palms and other Native Bush. The flat land around the homestead however is almost a bare canvas except for lemons oranges, mandarins, lemonades and kiwifruit. I am in the process of planning the food forest around them. You have no idea how your tour has help me figure out where to place things and how to aerate the ground without digging, I had planned to get a digger in lol, I even know now where I'm going to place the chook house. Thank you so much for sharing your fabulous garden with us. You are awesome.

Dear Morag it was a great pleasure to see this rich permaculture garden and how it has evolved over a decade or so. I didn't see you are mentioning nitrogen-fixing plants (other than the perennial bean) in this video. If you do please let us know what they are. I continue to follow your very useful videos.

What an excellent garden, I am so impressed! You did a great job with the tour, I will probably be referring to this video often as I build my own garden. So thank you for all the useful information. Also, I was shocked when your neighbor's house came into view at the end. The whole time I was picturing a rural setting, I didn't expect them to be so close. Brilliant! I'm starting to see that I don't need as much space as I aways thought.

I would be interested to see a breakdown of your food usage; how much is purchased, whether you have livestock, and what you consume from that source, as well as how much is put by and so forth. I try to incorporate lots of edible/herbal/medicinal plants on my urban homestead, but I don't find a large number of permaculture perennial plants that would actually feed someone year round without supplementation with annual veg or grain crops. Do you dehydrate foods? Or use a freezer? Also, I see so many people doing permaculture in climates that can be used to produce year round. It is much more challenging in a cold climate. Can you share this information?
@svelanikolova57762 жыл бұрын
You inspire me to do the same. I wonder how much food I can squeeze in to a. 4th of an acre. I planted 8 trees in 2 weeks and discovered 3 more that needed attention. I also started chopping and dropping stinging nettle for complete nutrition for me and the soil. I got a bunny for the best compost out there and I am working on getting a duck to eat the nasty unwanted bugs. I also watched you last night and am repurpousing old plastic water bins for worm towers in my garden Thank you for the tour of your place.

I have comfry growing at out place, also called bone knit plant. It is great for farm animals as well as a composting plant. When fed to sick cows they produce more milk and thicker cream. We have mint. Although we don't have chickens it is used for their nesting boxes. Raccoons and mice are not fond of mint. Free range chickens tend to nest in the growing mint areas. I think the small may mask the smell of chickens to predators.
