4 carburetors!!!!! A problem already. Surely one big carb would suffice?. We do have speed limits, after all. This bike is what I believe is called a Crotch Rocket. I would just ride it on idle. I've grown out of that youthful immortality phase of life. (As much as I love bikes they scare the bejazus out of me...)

I agree Bill, I definitely feel very mortal nowadays, I just have to look at the pile of pills I have to take each morning! 4 carbs is definitely an extravagance, I remember back in the day Bike magazine asking where was bikings Beetle, things like the original Goldwing could have had a single carb without denting performance that much ( not that important on a big tourer anyway ) and it would have given better mpg and a torquier motor. I think there was an aftermarket kit to just that, but I suppose th manufacturers know that speed/ acceleration sells bikes!

Still got issues the Steve. As you know an MZ would be a fine addition to th garage.

What clutch problem are you having? My TS is very particular as to which gear oil it likes and whether or not the oil is warm. I second that videos on an oid MZ would be a great addition to the Old Nut channel, however I am rather biased.

I have my carbs off of my 1980 Suzuki GS550, my intake manifolds were deteriorated so badly I need replacements. I purchased rebuild kits but have not opened, what I am curious about is if your kits come with the o-rings for the feed tubes between the carbs. I purchased the bike and believe it has not ran since 2017. So I’m enjoying the struggle your sharing and learning what I have to look forward to. Thank You, Be Safe.

A friend of mine had a new GS550 in 1979 and I had a few rides on it, I think it is a better bike than the CB550 so I might look out for one to play with next Max.

@@oldnutsgarageQuick question/opinion.. just got NOS intake manifolds they feel very rough from casting and adhesive used to attach the rubber, should I worry, best way to clean, 2000 Emory? Sorry for the freebie will make contributions when I employed again. Thank You.

Rubbing them down should not be an issue Max and 2,000 might be too fine, but if you have some you might as well start with that and just see how it goes.
