Hey so happy to see Don he always brighten up my day, the clock came out beautifully and you can seal the fabric with Modge Podge about 3 coats, but you have to let it complete dry between coats.

I saw someone do a Marine Corps patch in a resin coaster & she put several coats of satin Mod Podge on the front & back of the patch first & it came out perfectly. The Mod Podge didn't discolor the patch & since it was sealed, neither did the resin. Yes, Don, a competition is definitely due!

I would love to make a platter of my patches too ,I served during the Vietnam war and would be hard pressed to find all my patches but I will look. You did such an awesome job. I laminate the patches i use and cut the laminate as close to the patch as possible without breaking the seal, that way they dont lose the colours and they stay flat in the resin. And yes Don DEFINITELY needs to do more competitions and resin videos in general. I find him hilarious and the two of you together make a fantastic resin team. The world is a better place with your videos Michelle, so keep them coming. ❤❤❤

Great to see Don back! Thank you for your service! In regards to the patches, I wanted to scream at you when I saw you planning it. Patches and fabric are like paper in resin. They absorb the resin and it makes the colors bleed. The patch is a lot like a sponge. The best way to put paper in resin is to laminate it. Sealing it in plastic keeps the fibers dry and true colors stay. Most of the time the plastic melds with the resin and you don’t even see it. I’m reading a few say use mod podge or clear sealer and I’m curious to know what they do. It would involve wetting the fibers and it might change the look too. Now I have to experiment when I get some time to play! We can’t learn if we don’t make mistakes. Love that you show the problems as well as the wins! You two are awesome!

Don’s singing always gets me….it turned out great. ❤❤ mod podge has a fabric sealer. Ive used it for appliqué for colorfast & washing its works great I’m sure you could pour resin over the treated fabric after it dries.

To keep the patches nice and bright, seal them first with some clear coat spray OR fabric spray. Be sure to use a couple of coats. One at a time then dry in between. Make sure you test it out. But that should keep them nice and bright.

I speak to Veterans all the time. 😍 That's so weird that the patches went all dark too! I was thinking maybe if you sprayed them with archival spray before putting them in resin? I use that when I use straight up alcohol inks in my resin paintings. But really IDK for sure.

I think if you seal the fabric really well with sealer spray, the resin can't soak into the patches and change the colors.

I believe that you had a problem with the black or blue ink bleeding in the resin .That's why it changed to the grayish color I would suggest pre washing the patches next time. Or sealing them with something and those stickers

Use 2X clear spray paint and the plastidip spray just like you would for a printable vinyl.

Michelle what if you sprayed the patches with like a sealant before. Maybe like a spray glue or hairspray something to maybe experiment with and see if it would even work.
