I have the black 55L version on my KTM890 and has been great so far.Better than paying $400 or $500 for the same amount of storage. Waterproof also.

Great video! I went with basically the same box, but in silver (as I got a great deal on a pair of SW Motech-panniers, I wanted it to match somewhat). I think the 55l was a good choice when I look at your Transalp (I ride a Yamaha Tracer 700). A good compromise between looking not too bulky, but you can also fit quite a bit into there. It even has the matching "X". Regarding the general capacity of these boxes: I have seen them ranging from 22l up to 80l. If you absolutely want something streamlined, IMO the 22 or 28l are a good choice, as they are less tall. As the boxes from up to 45l get wider and wider: one thing I suspect that if you go really big, you might not be able to open top-loading panniers anymore (not 100 % sure about that).

Good video. Only suggestion I have would be to add a washer under the nuts for the two front bolts holding the mounting bracket to the grab rail. The grab rail is cast aluminum and more prone to cracking from stress than something machined from billet, so the washers would help distribute that pressure/stress out over a little wider area. Probably not necessary, but it could be just enough to prevent a crack in a crash. For $0.15 for a couple 10mm flat washers at your local hardware it's not going to break the bank and may give you a little additional piece of mind.

I can switch it out later. I would need to switch out the bolt for a slightly longer one but not as long as the long bolts included. I only had grade 8 fasteners and washers laying around and adding a washer to the included hardware meant that the nylon in the nut wouldn't make contact and wouldn't stay secure. I didn't torque it down heavily or anything so it should be alright for the moment but you are absolutely right.

Cool! Nice find. I like the nice soft interior liner also. I know the tree shaped bits as a "Uni-bit" or "Step Drill bit." You always provide very good advice in your videos. Note the Transalp has a USB-C charger from the factory under the seat near the very back behind the seat latch, also. I am 165 lbs and have the rear shock set at #6 position of 7 with 7 being the stiffest. It does not provide the ideal Sag setting but helps to greatly reduce, mitigate the wollowing and lack of rebound adjustment. I also set the forks at 10 turns in from stock 7 turns. My Transalp sits flat and is safer to rider now. No where near a sportbike on the road or offroad but OK until I upgrade the rear shock and spring to the correct ones for my weight and luggage added weight. Which will make it so much better, safer for me and will make the tires last longer and perform better offroad, on dry and wet pavement.

Thank you! I know about the usb- c in the back but I don’t own a long enough c - iPhone cable so I haven’t put it to use much. I’m also around 165 so maybe I should bump mine up a notch and see how it feels. Currently on position 5. One thing I noticed with changing preload is my headlight seems a little bit low now. It’s pretty easy to adjust it but I think tonight after dark I’ll try and raise it up a little bit.

I bought the 45L version. Pretty happy with it. Looks good with the Black Transalp 👍

Agreed! I'm without a car for the next few weeks and having the extra storage has been super handy. I was able to get a weeks worth of groceries (for a single man who lives alone) last night and still had room to go.

Your hair is sick, also love this bike. Nice! Top box doesn't look too bad. I think it helps that its not wider then the bike, sits flush with the profile of the transalp.

Thank you :) that helmet sure does a number on my hair lol I think the 55L is big but not so big it looks ridiculous yk. I think having some aluminum panniers would make it look really good!

I installed the 65 litre on my BMW R1200RT. Good quality for the price. I believe I will get years of use from this purchase.

great video... i was on the fence between the 65L and 55L and i think you narrowed it down to the 55L.

great choice for some solid storage space! the biggest difference between the 65L and 55L is the 55 is taller and more square, and the 65L is shorter but much wider and rectangular.

The Misfits approve. And so do I. These makers are out here charging crazy money for these things. $180 is a great price. Just to confirm, you are adjusting CCW as seen from above to increase preload?
@Tailbo3 ай бұрын
The ring on the top goes counterclockwise to increase and clockwise to decrease. But after you get to the highest setting it drops back to the first setting so make sure you watch closely and don't keep twisting blind to avoid any damage. You can see the little ramps on the side near the brake reservoir.

Dude, I cannot unscrew the mounting plate that is attached to the bottom of the box! I tried to turn the screws in the screws just keep turning and turning without loosening so how can I mount the mounting plate to my bike when it won’t come off the bottom of the box it’s ridiculous

@@FromTheHood2TheWoods hey just saw this. Do you have a way we could chat and exchange pictures of the box mounting setup so I can try and help? Did you buy the same brand as me? The box is attatched with a latch to to the box with four rubber grips. If yours is like mine don’t unbolt just unlock the latch and slide it off. If that doesn’t work let me know and I’ll try and help ya out.

@@GrantW219 I haven’t seen that one yet! Just warning ya it’s gonna take some time to get used to the extra weight and center of gravity change so practice with the box loaded and passenger off before having your partner ride with you. Heavy items at the bottom of the box!

Also set your preload to account for all the rear weight

Does this 55L box fit one adv helmet? Thanks for the video but i couldn't see what helmet was that. Is it open face? Full face?
@Tailbo2 ай бұрын
@@mikefreitas1331 I threw a size xl full face helmet in there if I recall correctly. The box also fits my size M but physically much larger modular helmet in there as long as I'm not stacking it in things. I am confident you can fit your helmet in there plus a few extra things on the side as long as you have your helmet in its bag to prevent scratching.

hi, do you think it can fit two helmets in there?
@TailboАй бұрын
@@pedroferreira4653 definitely depends on the helmet! Two half helmets easy 1 full face 1 half easy 2 full face maybe but there is wider versions of the box for similar price. This one is taller and more square than the rest.
