Record-Breaking Meteorite Crash on Moon Sparks Brightest Lunar Explosion Ever: www.space.com/24789-moon-meteo...
A NASA moon monitoring telescope captured the blast, which could be seen by the naked eye on Earth, on March 17th, 2013. The object was the size of a small boulder and may be part of a meteor swarm that also flew past Earth.

Snowlyf Well, I mean if you had a camera, a telescope, and a tracker to keep the telescope on the object, you could make a video yourself of the ISS or other things. Just an idea. By the way, please keep making that video lol

+Riley Goss Just out of interest, when someone misses a joke on KZbin (which seems to happen all the time), how do we know they really missed it, and they aren't just fishing for a response, for their own weird reasons...? In this case, I think jimmyfly really did miss it. But all these other occasions...? Who knows.

@@Lukasdenhertog To severely damage the moon and render it useless to earth, it would only take an impact of an object the size of Coney Island which is 2.7 miles long. There is no atmosphere on the moon, to slow down or break a part and burn up objects before Impact, so the moon is very, very, very vulnerable!... Also, If the planet Jupiter came anywhere near earth or the moon, it's mega gravitational pull would not only destroy earth but completely swallow up both the earth and its satellite "The Moon". So you see, it would not take a large object at all, to be completely devastating to all life here on Earth!.... There are some great videos Online & on KZbin, that actually cover this exact topic if you would like to learn more!...

@@falcoperegrinus82 Why does the moon receive so many more meteor crashes the the earth? Do you know?
@falcoperegrinus82
@falcoperegrinus82 2 жыл бұрын
@@patrick8128 Because unlike Earth, the moon has no atmosphere to ablate meteors. Also, due to that lack of an atmosphere, there's no weathering on the moon, so there's no process like erosion to eventually "erase" craters. Also, unlike Earth, the Moon has no tectonic activity to "recycle" the surface or volcanic activity to cover up craters. All that is why craters accumulate on the Moon and each looks as fresh as the day it happened.
