Defpom's Electronics Repair

Күн бұрын

I test this E3646A power supply with a DC electronic load to make sure that it works, I then show to to change its AC line voltage, repair it’s smashed front panel, and then show how to repair the rotary encoder.

Nicely Done! Great all the bits and pieces were still around.

Yep, I was pleased to get it all glued back together, it seems strong enough, now I just need to sell it.

I like the load tester, I have an old kirkisui well something like that. Works well but I was thinking of upgrading to something with a logging function. Nice power supply. You are the most unlucky person I know with shipping I know how it feel after they smashed the tube in my HP logic analyser.

Baking soda and superglue in the cracks to fill it, followed by some light sanding with 1500 grit waterpaper till smooth, and you will never know they were there unless you see the colour change. got the same cordless drill, just blue and branded Ryobi. did a conversion to it to replace the NiCd cells with an 18650 lithium cell and control board, and bodged together a charge cord to use USB power to recharge the battery. As the motor is a little large for the DW01 and mosfet to power it that is just the charger now, and the motor is driven direct from the cell. Works well, and a little more power along with a lot longer run time off it. Still got the junk LED lamp in it still.

At 8:07, we take the SHARP end of the tweezers and after carefully backing it up with our BARE FINGER, pry the tab up. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good . . . :o)

Did you load test the higher 3A lower voltage range on both channels too? It's not in the video. You could have also had the opportunity to show the Maynuo back panel source leads for 4 wire connection to the supply with the higher amps vs 2 wire on the same and indeed the 4 wire of the S+/S- of the PSU itself. Good job on gluing the panel back together.

Hello! Thank you! You gave me the inspiration to glue back together a really nice HP oscilloscope that arrived with two if it's rear stand up/power cord wrap feet broken off. Got to love eBay! I went back after watching this video and found all the little pieces that were still in the box and spent a good couple of hours gluing it together. I used Loctite super glue and as much as possible. It looks surprisingly pretty nice, you almost can't tell it happened and this was broken into 25 pieces easy. So the question I have for you, is how is it holding up on your unit?

The glue is holding up OK so far!

One shalt never underestimate the will&might of postal workers to bring destruction and misery to everyone. One shalt always pack everything so it can be send to the Moon with blackpowder cannon. (Not joking).

Struth that was in need of oil of ulay :-) I think clear expoxy resin in the cracks using a needle would of made it better, a bit of sanding and ready for paint. Quick sell it to a mug.... err nice customer :-D

Man and i need to find some test equipment for my little work room. This makes me sad. To see that i will do all my research and have my first oscilloscope come to me all smashed.🤕

Just make sure that you ALWAYS specify exactly how you want it packed, stress that it is likely to be dropped and thrown around by the postal service.

I was under the impression that the E36XXA power supplies' encoders have never shipped with detents on the encoders (or indents as you call them), which is why the damping grease is in place. This would explain why the detent yoke is completely flat. (Or I could just be wrong.)
@TheDefpom
@TheDefpom 2 жыл бұрын
Once cleaned and re-tentioned there are detents present, the grease will be a dielectric grease to lubricate and help avoid oxidation forming.

Cheap, mechanical rotary encoder soldered onto the PCB. So typical of newer test gear. Order some spares.
