My dad would never use a spray to help start either the 460D or 560D. We had a lot of trouble with heads and gaskets. By age 17 I was nearly a certified expert on overhauling those two tractors or so it seemed like it. Now in my mid-60's I realize WHY they were so troublesome, especially the 460D. Dad had the max rpms set at 2450 to pull a 4-16 plow and heavy IH 14" disk. It was doing work that should've had a 706 doing. I did not realize until I rebuilt the 460 just how tiny tiny the 460 rear end is...,its an "H" rear end. Thinking of the thousands of hours of heavy pulling with that tiny rear end, I'm pretty impressed with whoever designed it. Never had a single issue with the rear end or trans, except the T/A which is normal.

Put in a block heater and plug it in.

I installed new glow plugs and a new block heater cord on my 560. Glow for 30 seconds and fires right up on all cylinders. I don't even really need the block heater unless it's freezing cold

I've heard of the rare 460D or 560D that's not a PITA to start below 70 degrees. My 460D is not one of them.

@LuvBorderCollies I glowed my 560D for 30 seconds and it fired right up in mid 40's this week. New glow plugs made a huge difference

Being that's a Roosa Master injection pump with a mechanical governor the throttle is always wide open when you start it.
