Anchor shackles with the pin that you can unscrew then screw back in after you get it in place or having some shorter chains with slip hooks on one end saves a lot of time on those AC units.

If your doing a lot of A/C unit hauling, I use shackles. Put chain through shackle then attach the shackle to the unit. Then take the chain hook past the shackle and hook to pitch pocket. Other end to binder. Holds load from both front and back movement as well as side to side.

Reading my great great grandmother's diary of 1903, she mentioned that she watched a team of six horses pulling a huge generator going to the nearby Holt Wood Dam, a power plant in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. How times have changed. You could easily haul such a large piece of equipment.

Consider using a single chain on either side. Hook the A/C unit drop the chain down around the first pipe back up to the deck on either end. Put your single ratchet in the center and pull the ends. You get full WLL on the chain that way and only use two chains and binders per unit.

Thanks again Dan Teresa and Bailey. Good to get some chores done before you are back on the road, nice to have a temporary home spot to recharge where folks know ya. It seems that manufacturers more of late treat the folks that help them get a job done are just asset numbers on a list and was this accomplished, etc. Then when they are with their peers the complaints about working, contractors, skilled labor is not like it used to be, but in reality management teams are not what they used to be in treating folks as people and not a walking tool. I still do not know what the answer is to this structure any more...

We made up the chains for our trucks with a grab hook on one end and a slip hook on the other. A slip hook would hook into that hole. You can also put a slip hook on a short piece of chain to hook to your grab hook.
