Back in the day, the local pizza parlor had a massive arcade. I remember the day they wheeled this beauty in. X-MEN were just coming on the scene and this machine blew our minds. The sound, crisp display & 6 PLAYERS?!?! I remember quite vividly waiting in line for a chance to play it. Good stuff. It pleases me to see you guys are keeping these old machines up and running. Much respect.

I am so glad I found this video! One of my strongest arcade memories as a kid was playing this game with five friends on my brother's 10th birthday. We beat it twice in a row and then all of a sudden the screen went dead and we all just high-tailed it out of there before we got in trouble! To this day, I'd love to know if we somehow overloaded it or what.

I played this massive cabinet around the summer '93 and I remember when I saw it in the middle of the room I almost jawdropped. Once we were able to put together a 6 players team to kill the final boss, it was a lot of fun! (only the player 1 and player 6 position are not that comfortable because of the 90 degrees rotation) Sad to hear only a hundred are out there, if it arrived in my little italian town I assumed it was more popular. By the way the double screen was not a new thing, there were already some cabinets with double tv monitor you could sit on as a bench already around 1989-1990. I remember an impressive Final Fight on double screen with pretty loud sounds. They didn't use the mirror trick but appeared to be simply two 28 inches TVs set side by side horizontally. Thanks for showing it!

This arcade game X-Men was released on Japan on January 31, 1992, and on North American in March 1992. Up to 6 players can enjoy dual-screen version. The Single-screen, 4-player version due 2 months later in May of that year.

Just as an FYI Todd, people in the community at KLOV and BYOAC are working on vectoring the artwork for reprint. Actually have scanned some parts of the 6-player I acquired last year to assist. But your guys did a great job in restoring the "beast". I hope to continue work on mine later this year. Artwork is definitely the biggest hurdle. Besides moving it that is... Mine also came with a 2nd PCB that I did the audio board repair on, in case you need one again in the future. Can't wait to visit PA early May and hope to stop by the shop. Great vids as always.

I am quite impressed with the process of how the cabinet is set up. I've been lucky enough to have had my run-ins with this cabinet several times. The first time was in a bowling alley in east Orlando, then I saw it at both the original Moana Mickey's arcade location at the Polynesian Resort and the Port Orleans Riverside arcade at Disney World a decade ago and even the arcade at Sanford's Flea World (which like it's amusement park sector was shut down due to rising insurance costs which was mainly from the rides) had this beast. as for how big it is, Taito's widescreen games (Darius, Sagaia, and The Ninja Warriors) look puny compared to the 6 player X-Men.

One of my favorite arcade games as a kid. My local Wal-Mart had the 4-player version. It is a shame it never got a console release. I wonder why? It seems like it would have been a great game for a home conversion. I think the Super Nintendo could have handled a pretty faithful version of it. It would have been an awesome game for the Sega Saturn though, probably could have been arcade perfect.

Crazy that back in like 99 I think, we had an Arcade called Tilt & Tumbles in Southland Mall here in Michigan and when they were going out of business they were selling this monster for like 500 and I believe they ended up lowering it to 350 dollars before it was finally snagged.
