Interesting to come across this in such a friggin random KZbin way. This game existed at a 7-11 @ 44th and Indian School in Phoenix sometime in the early 80s. Rocked that game!

For those of you wondering what all of the Journey songs are in this game for each of the levels, they are: Steve Perry - Don’t Stop Believin’ Neal Schon - Chain Reaction Ross Valory - Keep On Runnin’ Jonathan Cain - Stone In Love Steve Smith - Wheel In The Sky Planet Select Screen - Frontiers Losing a Life - Who’s Crying Now Planet Clear - Lights

This was honestly one of the most bizarre machines ever made. Still for it's time really unique. The way the tape drive works is a lot simpler than I thought. Surprised no reports of chewed tapes ever happened. Does it auto rewind when it reaches end of tape?
@tntamusements10 жыл бұрын
The tapes were endless loops...so no rewinding needed! The metal cover assured no one could easily push the fast forward or reverse buttons (which WOULD ruin the tape).

In about 2010 me and Anthony did a bulk buy in CT. We flew up, rented a truck and drove back here to PA. That game was a pretty clean original and cleaned up real nice with the exception that it didn't work of course. I rewired the inner workings to bring it back to life. The tape deck was replaced, the monitor was also replaced because it had bad screen burn. I don't think Rich reproduced the side art yet? # 374 was in my collection until 2014 when somebody out west made me a ridiculous offer...and that is basically the story.

I remember when I was working for a vendor as a co-op back around 1982, when a sales/technical rep came to our shop to demonstrate this video game. The rep said that the developers configured the eproms such that if you shorted two data lines together, that the heads of the players turned into the heads of the developers. Have you ever heard that?

Just played one today at an arcade on freeplay. This game is both cheesy and hard. I came here to youtube to look for some help for next time. I don't imagine many people ever got to the bonus round. I played about fifteen games and only completed on of the five levels. It's mind boggling that this game was made. I wonder how many other bands turned Bally down before they signed Journey. I like the band well enough to have seen them play a few years ago, but are they arcade worthy? I think not. I'd be willing to own the machine though, if only for the unique nature of the machine.
@philipdefibaugh56834 жыл бұрын
At my father's old Arcade he worked at they had the Journey game and I played it a few times, but I looked as it as a poor knock off of the much superior Tron game. I did have a similar game put out by another company called Journey Escape for the Atari 2600. Unlike the Arcade game, I LOVED this game and played it often. The gameplay featured a "member" of the group running around escaping groupies (heart shapes with lady legs), camera flashes, crazy Fans, etc. The band were saved by the "mighty manager" who looked like the Kool Laid man (Tea Flavored). Instead of "Separate Ways" it played "Don't Stop Believing" as the intro. Fun game, though I was never a Journey fan.

No. Tron came out in 1982, Journey came out in 83, which was around the same time the Frontiers concert was happening, and originally, there was going to be a promotional tie-in with the game and the concert tour, but that got scrapped. As for the tape deck, I wonder if anyone has ever thought of switching the original tape with something else (one good example which would work for April Fools would be using Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up)?
