Love how the bird turned out. Very pretty colors. The dog tag was a great touch. Those paw prints are all adorable. I have no doubt she loves everything 😊. Hi Michelle, they are beautiful and so cute. Poor sammie passed on my birthday. As too did my own dog passed on my birthday a few years back. He was a great dog. My dad was in army too, he passed a couple of years back around Christmas. If we were get them we would be delighted with them. You put so much care into making them. Just a thought Michelle. To get the feathers to at least outline the mold...could you use your high viscosity UV resin and just put a thin layer in the whole inside of the bird (maybe in little sections if easier)...stick the feathers to that resin and cure it...then mix the ashes in your fast cure or casting resin and fill it with that...and maybe add a few feathers to finish it off. It's an idea that may help the feathers lay out flatter AND it would cover more of the bird. I know it's probably too late for this project...but I'd love to see you try it sometime!! What do you think?? 😊

Possibly, the only thing I think may happen is if bubbles get created on the silicone that wouldn't get filled in with the epoxy. I'd have to test that before I would add any ashes for sure.

I really like the bird mold, so many possibilities. Making it a memorial is special. The paw prints are cute. A tip for marbling, it might work better if you stabalize the bear & pour the 2 colors tog in the mold but just pour straight not in a circle cause that seems to mix the colors tog.

Another thought. Could you flip the bird inside out, cover the mold wth tack it, and cover the mold with feathers. Then turn right side out add resin. 🤷‍♀️

I would have felt intimidated by the bird project. I wonder if there was a way to pre-treat the feathers so they stay open and not just collapse in the resin? Btw, any details on the cute bear mold? I can't find them. I like the colors that the bird turned out as. It's so nice. The paw prints and the memorial pieces came out so nice. I like the Hand Grenade Hogan printing. That will be a great favorite, I bet. And the name on the bottom of the bird was smart.

New to resin so ignore if I’m wrong. But can you spray starch or hairspray on the feathers to stiffen them a little? Can you put the mold into the vacuum chamber to remove some of the bubbles from the feathers?

I may be able to spray the feathers, great idea!!! As far as putting the mold in the vacuum chamber that won't work, it would bubble up and out everywhere.

I have an idea if you do anymore memorial pieces with ashes. Put the ashes In One of those tiny glass Jara (like that only fits a grain of rice) and include it into the piece. So for the bird it could be a message/soul she is bringing to heaven or inside the piece, whatever. Just a way to include them, and you know they are there but they are still subtle. I love the feathers. I have been collecting them from my chickens to try them in Resin. ❤ thank you for all you do!

I got told by a family member that doing the memorial pieces was morbid, all because I said that for pets that the person can send me some of the fir and I can add it into the moulds then add the pets name on there somewhere. Now I'm still kinda creeped out with having the ashes but if that's what they want I can do it. These pieces are awesome. 💜💜💜
