307. A BRAND NEW Resin Art IDEA That ANYONE CAN DO!
In todays Resin Art video we try an experiment using alcohol inks in PVA glue, this started as one idea and then veered off into something else.
I am truly amazed at how well this worked! Each resin art piece will unique and none the same, and using ingredients we all have sitting around our craft rooms.
I definitely need to try the petri ring idea, what a cool resin ring that would make!

So happy to hear Mrs. Cooper has turned the corner and is on the mend!😁👏 What a great idea with the glue! I’m thinking maybe a hair dryer on low air and cool temp might help speed up the drying time? Definitely try the ring! Yes!!👍 😊

I use a golf tee with some blue poster putty to hold my cabochon. I took a box and put floral foam in it, poked some holes to hold the golf tees and cabochon to dry. I do acrylic fluid art and make magnets and jewelry.

You can make skins. Basically just do the radiator thing. You can do it with nail polish too. Don’t even need special tools just nail polish and yogurt lids. Use clear nail polish like the pva glue. Heck I wonder if you could use alcohol inks with nail polish.

Last week it was about 7.30 in the morning & the sky was beautiful , it was pink, red, yellow, purple it was just amazing, that's what I could see in the 1st heart & the green in it looked like a tree . The one you cured with heat that caused bubbles to me seems like that would have been amazing as an underwater effect. Like if you had different shades of blues and greens and had the bubbles, it would be like a mini ocean/fish tank style. This dipping technique would make for interesting coaster designs. When I get some time off work and buy more resin, I might have to give this a try myself. I am always learning and being inspired by your videos, and I thank you for sparking creativity!

I enjoy watching you create an experiment and if I’m ever able to start my ventures again into the art world, I will definitely be looking back at some of your work. Have a good day.😊😊😊

We absolutely know that acrylic paint works with PVA glue. A lot of people mix acrylic paint with PVA glue and water for acrylic pouring. There is a product called Flotrol, which is a "paint conditioner", that is also commonly used. It's much thinner than PVA glue, and also dries clear. There is one for water based paints and one for oil based paints. If you try it, you'll want the one for water based paint, but adding a couple of drops of the oil based one can create some amazing effects on canvas. I suspect that resin would pull away from that, however. The main difference between using acrylic paints and PVA or even Flotrol is that it's not going to be as textured as alcohol ink, and it won't be translucent unless you add very little paint or the paint specifies that it's a translucent paint. Mixing in both is a technique used in acrylic pouring to get dendrites. Indian ink and acrylic inks might give you some much cooler effects than an acrylic paint. A little goes a long way with those, as well.

So I was thinking. First off using the hole making suction “thingies” from Fran, was brilliant. I was siting there wondering how you would resolve the dropping problem. I had another thought. I was thinking of using regular resin and fill up some of the cabochon molds and then just have them. There are so many things you can do with the cabochons, and you know, because you have shown us.

This was such an interesting idea! I've seen people dipping cabochons into acrylic paint that is left over from a pour but haven't seen people putting alcohol inks on to PVA glue and then dipping cabochons onto that. That's amazing! Yes I absolutely did watch your video all the way through - I wanted to know exactly how you were doing this. The piece with the black background is so pretty, and your volcano lava piece - wow! Also, glad that I watched all the way through to know about the alcohol ink needing to evaporate off the glue for putting the cabochon in. Good information. I don't quite understand what you did on the piece that has the purple flash across it? It looks iridescent which is absolutely glorious. You added powder on the back that shows through the design? Like I said it's absolutely glorious and the one that is finished and has the chain attached is also just beautiful! I'm completely fascinated with this process. And by the way, I will never object to a long video that really teaches me something in detail.

Thanks so much Lori, yes, because the alcohol inks remain translucent, adding a interference powder like an aurora nail powder that kind of matches the alcohol ink color will glow through the ink color, it's quite magical 🥰
