The Ambassador must have been astonishing at the time. More so than the Galaxy when it was first rolled out. The Galaxy might outspan the Ambassador in its dimensions, but the Ambassador is so blocky that its mass and volume can't be all that less. It was MAJOR increase of scale over the Excelsior (which was a big increase in its own day). I really enjoyed the idea of the ambassador being like a mobile star base. Despite its immense new scale, I do see the ambassador as being a new exploratory and peaceful design. Much more of its capabilities designed for science, exploration and utility than warfare. At this point, Star Fleet's heavy cruisers already overshadowed everyone else, Star Fleet didn't NEED to develop giant new battlewagons. But giant new exploratory vehicles were alright.
@PhilDrury3 жыл бұрын
As much as I love the call-backs to the Constitution class and this design overall, they should have used the space frame design proposal submitted by the Probert Team which was an evolution of the Excelsior. Their other design proposal for Project Ambassador was sound, but took a further two decades to come to fruition whereupon it was given an entirely new class name :D

Great story! I would've bet that the "Narendra"-class configuration saw its light of day as an early Ambassador-class, with the familiar design being a refit. (Great to see it in Part 2).

Ever since that TNG episode the Ambassador has easily been one of my favorites. Though, my headcanon has been that they were good enough at their job to simply be a bit too far away to quickly recall for the Dominion War. Of course, given how the ST universe map and exploration works that alone tends not to be the best answer. The Galaxy class being ready far more quickly than planned and supplanting it could work had we saw more of those until the Dominion War. Either way, she has always been a beautiful ship.

Hey Tri, since I've commented on another video today, I felt I should add this; While I usually reserve my comments for your behind the scenes type videos ( because I have experience with them growing up) I have watched all of your Truth of Myth series so far - including your Beta Canon interpretations - I'm overdue in saying your imagination is fantastic and fills in so many gaps - I only hope someone in creative control at Star Trek sees them and one day approaches you to adopt your ideas into full on canon. You do a phenomenal job of keeping true to the established universe and making things fit proper - I appreciate them all - and I still especially love your Error Error vids :) Thanks for everything you provide - you are my favourite Star Trek content channel, and I'm not just saying that because I'm also Canadian, it just makes more sense that way haha :D

In “Yesterday’s Enterprise”, we travel to an alternate timeline and begin to notice several differences on our (Picard’s) Enterprise-D. We also see the Alternate version of the Enterprise-C which differs greatly from the actual Ambassador Class design, as previously seen on the Officer’s Lounge wall as a half-hull model in a display with all other ships, named Enterprise. For whatever reason, this version of the Ambassador Class Design was immediately accepted as the canon look for that Class, without any consideration of what had gone before,… placing the originally displayed Design into the category of ‘alternate design’, even though it’s lines clearly show a direct lineage between Enterprises ‘B’ & ‘D’. -Something to think about-

It's something I ALWAYS think about because I love the original design so much more! Don't get me wrong, I like the "canon" Ambassador Class, but as you say, what has become known as the Narendra Variant (the Original Design) fits so much better with starship lineage, and I'm ALL about starship lineage! Oh thats not fair, leaving a cliffhanger like that, lol. With STO I always when I comission a new ship give it the prototype name of that class and it's registry but always keep it as NX, as usually with me the ship will always be getting experimented on until i find a build that is to my liking, or of its part of a bubdle I will keep the one I want to use as primary with the NX and the rest are kept the NCC and shoved in the shipyard section, ha ha. Problem with the Ambassador class, no clear visual torpedo launcher on the nexk of the ship, unlike the Rick Sternbach version I think anyway, where the launchers are clearly visible, but I digress, thats just me being picky on ships, and understand that this particular design had to be put together quickly for Yesterday's Enterprise, I always wondered why it never looked like the one displayed in the conference room, but that has been explained, ha ha. I think the Ambassador was a great achievement with the phaser arrays, instead of the placed beam banks, it definitely made defence more sustainable I think when being attacked from all angles and being able to target multiple enemies at once, a great achievement. I think the Federation was right to hold back on resources from Starfleet while they got their design department in check, otherwise endless resources would be getting wasted which coul dbe being put to better use, I woul do the same really, and not release resources until I saw improvements, but thats what I would do if I were in charge, everybody is different. Starfleet sending false data to the Federation Council? well it happens, even in todays society, managers fudge up numbers so the shift looks good, I hate that fact, probably a reason why I wouldnt be a good manager, I would keep things honest, but would also be down with the workers helping them get the work done too. @TriAngulumAudioStudios3 жыл бұрын
Why? Because Transwarp Speed is FAR faster then normal warp... On the Old TOS Warp Scale, its begins at about Warp 84 (Do the math) and so, since NO Starfleet starship goes that fast in TOS or TNG Era, it is a failure... As if they HAD Transwarp, ships would be Traveling AT Transwarp! And Starfleet wouldnt be calling the BORGS speed Transwarp and Voyager would have gotten home in less then a year etc etc So it isnt an assumption, rather a deduction given onscreen proof of such!

"SWAY-doo"? I think you mean "SUE-doe" for the prefix "PSEUDO"

It isnt a "darker" take on Starfleet, this is how Starfleet has ALWAYS been in Star Trek!

Not at all, it is an excellent bridge between designs showing starship evolution and lineage!

It was to include families which didn't belong on a semi warship.

Sorry you are incorrect... There were never to be families on board, that was a new concept starting with the Galaxy Class. And this class was not a warship, semi or otherwise... It was an explorer!

The Ambassador class / USS Enterprise C has long been my number one all time favorite Trek starship design, hands down. It's much more balanced, symmetrical, and proportional than either the awkwardly bottom-and-rear heavy Excelsior or the absurdly top-and-forward heavy Galaxy. It has a distictly 'retro Connie' look to it, like a much more massive, much heavier, and super beefed-up Constitution class on steroids.
