In this video I get some massive copper bus bars & a literal ton of copper wire. Some of the wire was #2 insulated and very old and was a little tough to get the insulation off. . #recycling #copper #scrapping #diy #scrap #busbar #copperwire

That wire was fun to pull through conduit back in the older days. Putting the tint solution on copper makes it less valuable. We put on bus bars to protect them from corrosion.

Back to some old stripping. Both times when the cable jammed between the front/back top roller, when you fed them, the ass end of the cable was pointing at the ceiling. It naturally curled around the first roller. Nothing to do with catching anything. Still enjoy watching, probably 4-5 times just on this one.

@@ProjectShopFl been an electrician for 10 years now and I recently got about 200lbs of bus bar from a dam remodel job. Obviously it was old and oxidized... sanded down all of it (obviously lost a small amount in the process) but my local scrap plant accepted it as #1 instead and I got more per lb. Plus I made a really cool shelf with some of it too! I really shined those pieces up and it makes a big staircase shelf. Plus I got a giant 1,000A fuse that is mostly glass and I polished it up and it's copper and glass and AWESOME!

How does one acquire getting a business to sell you that? Are those just scraps left over or do they buy and resell to you?

27:18 Do you think you paid the right amount for this wire, or would you pay less in the future if a contractor offered it?
@ProjectShopFl
@ProjectShopFl Жыл бұрын
I paid way over local market price for the wire because I wanted to secure this and the next 2 loads from that job. I know how fast I can process it and what it's worth.

Wouldn't you get more if you were casting the metals in to ingots?
@ProjectShopFl
@ProjectShopFl Жыл бұрын
No, unless someone was buying just to have an ingot. You will waste time and energy doing that and most places won't buy it if they don't have an x ray gun. They will think you are melting other metals in there.
