So many things to say about this footage... 3:13 Clearly before they put gates at Fall Creek Pkwy 20:59 Not sure I ever knew there was a cabin in Forest Park... obviously, it's not there anymore 21:14 Back when the ITM had a model train running around inside the fenced area. I remember seeing it back in the day, have only seen a couple clips of the tracks for it though 27:24 Trolley footage... I remember seeing the trolley run through the park back then too. The tracks were just recently torn out

I remember watching this film as a child and this film alone shaped and molded my interest in railroading. It also established my deep love for this locomotive. How I randomly found this video here on youtube bewilders me. 587's whistle is so memorable that i got goosebumps watching this.

I’m glad you enjoyed. I have been trying to add any footage that I had from the filming. It was a special time in my family’s life as well. My son’s interest in the 587 help me to produce the film.Thank you!

Thanks for sharing your footage. The 587 was the first real steam locomotive I became a fan of.

Me too. I first saw her in her film when I was 4 years old, and by that time she was the first real engine I ever saw. She remains my favorite steam engine to this day because of that, and is one of the two main reasons why I became a railfan.

Looks like somethin' rolled out of the front engineer-side door of the combine car at 15:51.

Oh damn they weren’t running during a tornado warning were they?
@LotusbandicootRR8 ай бұрын
@@dergenmusic2081 Probably just a test. Hamilton County runs the sirens once a week for most of the year, the schedule was probably different back then but they run them every Friday at 11 am now

Now that she’s under private ownership, I wonder if I’ll ever be able to see the pride of Indiana run again. One can only hope

I hate that ITM got evicted and that the tracks were turned into a walking/biking trail. I don’t think I ever got to ride on the Indiana State Fair train while 587 was still being used for that but I would’ve loved the experience. I WOULD LOVE to see 587 functional again.

Didn’t ITM save a boatload of Budd cars for preservation following the eviction?? I know at least 3 got scrapped

I don't know about that. The 587 is in Kentucky I believe.

Wasn’t there a guy named Ernie or Bernie who was engineer of 587 at ITM at one time??
@ethanmorel27462 жыл бұрын
Yes. I’m familiar with the name Ernie Collison who was featured in Steam 98’. The same year I was born when they were celebrating the locomotives 80th Birthday.

Raw footage??? You bet! But 'ya know what...? That's what makes it great! Man, I wouldn't run a hand-car over those rails. 'Kinda funny how nobody ever hears about rails being turned over - under a 300 +/- ton locomotive. God!I would have loved to be your insurance provider back in the day, (LOL). How cool would it be to see both 587 and ex-GTW 4070, (both of the similar USRA design), run together. I don't know anything about 587's re-build future, but 4070's...I'm guessing these guy's are literally counting loose change in their pocket's and piggy banks in order to get her on the road again. God bless 'em though! Maybe in some decade!
