What a beautiful kiln load!!! I love that you took a moment to look at how the broken bowl was made and how thick the glaze was. Same thing with cutting the piece apart like that. Can’t stand it. lol!! Ancient copper has to get hot and it looks absolutely beautiful! Lol. Also the bowl that broke was through the firing and cool when it broke since it wasn’t stuck to the wall where it was touching. I honestly don’t think the misfire did anything at all. Our rainbow goes red orange yellow blue green indigo violet. Never heard that song. It sounds so out of order lol. I can not believe how your oatmeal turns so yellow!! It looks like marigold. Mine is always whitish. Love how creative you were with the ducks!! I am making tons of ducks right now as well!! We have a Jeep and there is this odd thing that people with jeeps “duck” eachother by leaving little rubber ducks on each others jeeps. So I bought a small mold that has 4 ducks from large to small. I am getting pretty creative with them. Can’t wait to start leaving them on jeeps!!

Oh you just gave me the BEST idea!! On cruise ships ppl hide ducks for others to find. I’m going to keep them for that!! Thankyou xx

Great video! I love your kiln openings. ❤️ Ancient copper really hates a slow cool. It needs a cone 6 firing and a natural cool to be bright and shiny with crystals. ✨

Yes, I agree really pretty if cone 6. One of my favorites! :) Thank you for sharing as always!!!

Congrats to your daughter on the book! Put the title in the show notes so people can buy it! Too bad about the bloating. I'm not so sure it was caused by the kiln failure, because your cones didn't show over-firing. Cones tell heat work (heat over time) and all of them were under a cone 6. I've seen many say they are having problems with new clay formulas, so if the bloating is all the same clay you may want to contact the manufacturer. Tracy's square bowl was beautiful inside. Too bad about it breaking. It looks like that happened on the cooling, since the glaze had already solidified (it didn't run over/into the cracks). Perhaps it's a tension thing, with a mis-match of glaze tensions inside and outside? I'm guessing, but I've heard of that being an issue with pots that are not glazed on the outside. Anyway, there were some beautiful pieces in there! Thanks for sharing, and Merry Christmas to you both!

Thankyou so much. Merry Christmas! I contacted them but they just tried to blame me 🤷♀️

Power outage shouldn't matter. Stopping and re-starting below your final temp won't make much difference. It just acts like a really slow ramp up. Not heating past your final temp/cone is what is most important.

Nice kiln opening! I looooove ancient copper! But it likes it hot and it looked terribly under fired. Also love soft red, so pretty! Good luck with your next markets!
