Lyrics:
Thirty weight coffee and Lucky Strike Chains
Thirty weight coffee and Lucky Strike Chains
I turned West Memphis out of Champaigne
Boys ,on 30 weight coffee and Lucky Strike Chains
See, I freighted the fat hogs straight from the farms
I chased the cutters and the cull cows from a hundred sale barns
But when the feeders went West, round the time it turned Fall
That's when the miles they got heavy and the money got tall
So I'd take me a tooter and draw me a line
Take me a tooter and draw me a line
'Cause Hugoton's a hard run in an old W9
Boy's I'd take me a tooter and draw me a line.
Well there's a sweet solemn stillness that steals over you
When you're West of Dodge City doing 102
As all your mispoken words and all the birthdays you've missed
Fall like smoke butts to the black top as you break forth into bliss
So I awoke in the East, boys I laid down in the West
And in the dawn's early light I called the courtesan blessed
Tendered my youth to the userers till
For the lust of the chrome, the fire and the steel
Yes I am a fool as you may have divined
Though less of a fool than a cheater you'll find
Cause it's 1200 miles to that Texhoma line
I was runnin' three log books , boys, on that tooter and line
Then i looked on my work and saw it was good
So i called myself God from the rock where i stood
Till the sabbaths I shunned showed up to be paid
Left me busted up , bleeding on the bed that i'd made
Does Rebbecah still work at the old 201?
Does Rebbecah still work at the old 201?
You know she asked me to stay but there were feeders to run
Does Rebbecah still work at the old 201
Now my teeth they are broken and my friends they are dead
My teeth they are broken and my friends are all dead
Now it's beans for my meat, boys, corn meal for my bread
'Cause my teeth they are broken , my friends are all dead
So i take me a tooter and draw me line
Take me a tooter and draw me a line
I ran West Memphis and i run it on time
Now there ain't nothin' left but the tooter and line.

New truckers will never understand this life. It’s a life that’s slowly dying and never coming back. We ran hard, CB was always going and we respected those before us and earned our respect. Listened to old boys and learned the right way. Not like now. Most can’t even shift or back up. Running west coast turns into Hunts Point is not what it was

It’s definitely a chilling feeling I get when I listen to this song especially. Makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up, gives me goosebumps. Makes me feel proud and not so alone about my pure passion I have for the industry and everything we all do, night n day, 24/7. If you ain’t chasing the lonely highs and lows of running the road, then it might not have a lotta meaning to ya but for the guys that feel the way I do, this song should bring you to tears while putting a smile on your face every time. Long haul Paul definitely knows how to paint a picture with his words.

I'm still running a mighty fine 379 with a big kitty cat and 18 speed. Leased on to a GOOD smaller company! Cant quite make the time we used to could but everything else is still golden. No speed limiter, no eld no cams unless I want. Good paying loads! I'm having too much fun and making too much money to ever quit! As long as I can get a good card I'm gonna be trucking!

Oh this song, tears and chills the entire time. Reminds me of my Dad who used to run a bull rack back in the 70s and 80s. My favorite times were riding along in the bunk out west. All the things I would see and then some of the stories Dad would have. Man, shaped me to who I am today. Amazing song, don't get much more perfect than that.

This video and song is dead on for the years I put into shipping hides out to the panhandle and all the dedicated truckers, barn hands and ladies in the office putting in the hours and passion of a job we all loved. If you was deep in this business you definitely ended up with few broken teeth from those lines. I'm glad I survived the life and will not forget those that didn't survive it by paying the sacrifice. Myself and Children ask that Question very often. We seen so many who didn't. & Lost so many Friends. I thought I would blow another stearing tire or something...! But my last Run I didn't know was my last. They supprized me 5/5/11 sent to DOT Dr. & That was it. Hidding Medical issues...! Miss it

I was a product of the "Hot Ticket" class of 85 -took my test for my class A in an extended hood 359. No drugs were required at that point in my life choice. But it wasn't too many years before the drive to make 6000 bucks before you get to even buy groceries, that wears any young man out. So I always said "when the goin gets tough- the tough go truckin, all night long"
