Lisa.. thank you so much for this tutorial! As much as I am in LOVE with acrylic pour paintings... I have hesitated to give it a try.... Primarily because I live in a small condo where storage and activity space are limited...and let's face it... paint can be messy! BUT... you have just given me inspiration!! Love your work, I m new at this craft and trying so hard to achieve some of the ways these pours are done. I've tried many recipes for the mixing the paints, can't seem to get all the cells even though I use the exact recipes. Don't know what I'm doing wrong but I love your work.
@HarmonyHouseArt2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much, Kay! In this bloom technique, the cells arise because the paints we use as the "cell activators" are very thin and stretchy. You can blow or swipe them over the other colors and the other colors pop up through the parts that stretched out. These are very different from cells that arise in regular pours- those are usually from the friction of the paints and the oils used in them (and the oil in Floetrol encourages cell development.) Hope that helps!

Hi Lisa. It’s pretty but I kinda liked it before you spun it 😀 Got a question: the pillow you used, did you actually use black house paint or did you use something else for that color? One more thing: I find it’s much easier to disperse the pigments first in about a tablespoon of either your mix or JoSonja. Then when you add your mix it’s very fast to combine because your pigments are basically paint at that point. You can get all the granules mixed in super well with mixing the small amount first. At least that works for me.

Hello Lisa !! I look your mix for the first time. I have a question for you. The valspar is very liquid and blank? Is dry transparent? is like the satin enamel Behr 8300? But this binder is soooooo thick comparated to Valspare...😂😂 It's just for verify my PM. And think than I have find why you have the paint more liquid for the bloom dutch. 🥰❤ Your results are soooo amazing when you do the bloom dutch. Is it important to verify the transparency of the paint for do bloom flower? Thank you so much to help me sweet Lisa. ❤❤❤
@HarmonyHouseArt Жыл бұрын
Thank you as always for your kind words, Caroline! No, the Valspar is very thick like the Behr brands and has no added pigment but does have a natural, light yellowish color from the ingredients in it. If your bloom mix seems too thick, try adding Floetrol or JoSonja varnish to thin it out a bit. Even though Floetrol is not thin, it helps the paints move around and go farther because of the oils in it. The brand of base paint you use doesn't matter but the climate you live in does affect how the paints work together.

@@ItsVick I use the 2-ingredient mix for the colors and the base (pillow) and I leave them roughly the same thickness...that's how I do it. Hello from The Netherlands.I made many paintings but never tried this technique because i don,t know what to buy. I,m afraid to ask stupid questions but...interior paint like you use Valspar with a primer in it isn,t available here i guess, Is it wallpaint , a latex? Hope you can give me some clarity on this, thank you in advance, maybe the other products are available on Amazon, love your work👍

What I use to make the pouring medium is the tintable base paint that stores use to mix custom color paints with. They start with a tintable base which has no pigment added and that is what I use. I just tell the stores I'm making my own custom colors. I mix half of the tintable base with half of either Josonja varnish or triple gloss varnish. It will be a very thick mix but you can thin it with more of the Josonja. If you don't have a store nearby that can custom mix paint, you may be able to find a tintable base on Amazon and I know you can find the varnishes there. Best wishes! PS- I think they are probably latex bases.

I tried this recipe to do the red sunflower 726, but my paints are too thick, what is your paint to pm ratio?
@HarmonyHouseArt Жыл бұрын
This recipe is for the bloom technique only. For swipes, like video 726, the paints must be much thinner. Even though I ended up blowing the colors out, I was using a thinner mix. Here is that formula: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aX3RdICZbd2bes0si=TPol1ZGbkX8yP1Q5

Is your base paint the same mixture used for the Bloom?
@HarmonyHouseArt2 жыл бұрын
Yes, Debbie! I mix my base the same exact way but usually have to add some Floetrol to the base.
@debbiefiremanmarr72252 жыл бұрын
@@HarmonyHouseArt , what ratio do you use?
@HarmonyHouseArt2 жыл бұрын
@@debbiefiremanmarr7225 Of Floetrol? That depends on the paint- tube paint is heavier and will need more Floetrol than pigments or liquid paints like Golden or DaVinci. You will have to experiment to find out what works for you and your particular paints. If it's too thick to blow, add more Floetrol...that kind of experimenting is needed by each individual.

Are you no longer using the Ovation paint but are now using this Vslspar paint in its place?
@HarmonyHouseArt Жыл бұрын
You may have confused me with another artist- I've never used Ovation..don't even know what that is. 😄

Gorgeous Lisa! One question- what is your base layer recipe (ie the paints you use to flood a larger canvas). Is it the same Valspar/Varathane plus paint mixture ratio or different?

Thanks so much, Judy! Yes, just answered your email! lol! 😅
