in this video {597} Connect 2 Power Supplies in Parallel to Get More Current, Adding Current of 2 Power Supplies, i demonstrated how to get more current by connecting 2 power supplies in parallel.
How to Connect 2 power supplies in parallel. in this ways 2 voltage sources will come in parallel thus the voltage remain same but the current will add.
In this video I demonstrated how to connect two or more power supplies in parallel. It is best practice to use reverse polarity protection diode to protect power supplies from inter-source power supplies. I shared wiring with practical demonstration. The output voltage remain same but the current of the both power supplies will added together. If one power supply is providing 12 volt 25 Amp (300 watt)and the second power supply have same specifications. After making parallel connections its output will 12 volt 50 ampere (600 watt).

@@HaseebElectronics Hi, thank you for sharing your knowledge. I have a question. Let's take that scenario where one converter is slightly low, or at very low output for a brief moment and the shotcky diode is protecting current from going backwards through it. What about working converter that now has to provide the extra power to make up for the slow converter, what happens to it in such scenario. Does it get damage?

I have two identical 48vdc 5A power supplies but I needed 10A current. I ordered the proper sized diodes, wired them up as shown and it works perfectly. Best description of how to do this I found. Thank you for sharing this information. Saved me from buying a new power supply.

As other commenters have said, this is the best video Ive seen on smps'. I have searched Google and here for this information and often found myself confused repeatedly. The way you describe things is very clear and I love how you repeat the important steps 2 or 3x. Just hearing the audio alone I would feel confident to do this finally but the video of you hooking up the wires is A++++! Thank you for your videos and all the work you put into them.

I am using two 24V 20A power supplies in parallel in almost exactly the same way. I am also monitoring the current from each supply using an ATtiny85 and two ACS712 modules and a relay. If the current difference from the supplies is more than 3A then the relay disconnects the supplies. It works beautifully. But I am interested in using MBR50100. Right now I am using some 30A 100V diodes in parallel, but the MBR50100 looks like a neater solution. Great video as always. Thank you.

@@HaseebElectronics It is for my 3D printer. I need 24V and 27A but first the original meanwell 24V30A supply failed. And then another 24V30A supply failed. Using the two supplies in parallel have worked great. However, thanks to your other fantastic videos I have been able to repair the failed supplies and also upgraded my 24V20A supplies. Your videos have been so helpful to me.

@@mugtabaalhassan802 Hi. Yes they share the current equally within 0.3A. I replaced the potentiometer on both power supplies with multiturn trimpots for very fine adjustment of the voltage. I measure 24.5V and around 13A from each power supply.

Hello! Good video! There may be disbalance between PS1 and PS2 when they have different temperatures for the output wires and terminals. To fix it and sacling without risking thermal damage to PS1 or PS2, try using PS1 as the MASTER and PS2 as the SLAVE. The slave device (devices ) has (have) a current limitation. The current limitation signal comes from the current sensor (resistor or shunt) that measures current through a "positive" MASTER terminal. There are no diodes required on the output.

Thank you. You have answered a lot of questions right off the bat, but I have one more. I wish to combine the -12v and +12v connections from an old PC PSU to make a +24volt connection. What exactly is the process there? I'm fairly certain it's in series, but I don't know if special steps have to be taken since they are opposing voltages? I only know it can be done, but finding very little info out there about it, other than it being possible. Appreciate your input. :) New fan here.

Nice video. There are a few questions arising though: - why do you need to connect in paralel the inputs (L, N, G)? what would happen if you don't? - provided that you protect the sources with diodes (as you show), what can happen if the output of the sources are different? for example, say one source outputs 24V (and max 10A) while the another outputs 12V (and say, max 5A). - what would be the output voltage in this situation? (I suspect some intermediate value? In this case we could not ignore the resistence of the wires + the diodes. If we assume those are equal, the resulting voltage could be (24V+12V)/2 = 18V)). - what would be the max output current in this situation? (I suspect the total power of the combined source would equal te sum of the powers of the individual sources, so the max output would it would be (24V *10A + 12 V * 5A)/ (combined voltage)).

@HaseebElectronics
@HaseebElectronics 2 жыл бұрын
if one power supply is damaged or looses its regulation in that case the second will also disconnect at 25 ampere in this parallel connection both power supplies must have same rating as it industrial power supply which is using current and voltage mode protection, so this power supply will shutdown automatically at reaching at its maximum ratings. i will suggest to check video number 592 & 586 (related to the same power supply)

Hello, Thanks for the video. I have 1 idea in my ming for power sharing: 1st power supply = Solar panels (38-48V) 3x455w (1365w) 2nd power supply from grid = AC/DC PSU 48v 25A (1200w) There will be diodes before load LOAD = Battery charger (input is up to 48v 100A, output is 28v (and then I have 8 x step-down converters to 12v) ) I want to share the power between them - to work like this scenario: 1. If its sunny day solar supply will "feed" the load at 100% 2. if there is a cloud/night and solar panels stop producing power or just supply 60% of the load - the rest 40%/100% to come from 2nd PSU (grid) To work like master and slave I am wondering if I adjust 2nd PSU output to 35V (lower than solars)? What do you think? Thanks in advance.

I want to use two 12 volt power supplies to create a 12 volt 240 amp power supply. Do they make 240 amp 100 volt short rectifiers?

Thank you for Great information provided sir, I have a question in mind (may be silly for you) can we use single ended diode (one side passing only) in place of the MBR diode
@HaseebElectronics
@HaseebElectronics Жыл бұрын
Yes we can use simple rectifiers, if we select schottky diodes, that will much better, because it will drop less voltage than a simple rectifier

MBR diodes have low forward voltage that causes to dissipate less power with compare to a simple rectifier
