I've have the C59 in my 2010, had awful 3rd gear synchro grind. Used BG Syncro Shift 2, made a huge difference! Completely gone have a quick drain and fill.

Awesome to hear! Might have to look into it, most people with the C60 use redline mt90 so I’ll do some searching around and comparison. Thanks!

Thanks for the video...2 questions: 1. Lift transition seems so uneventful with the reflash...any regrets? I've had my XRS a week and love the dramatic changeover. Without that it would feel like an 8th gen Civic, I imagine, which is imho pretty boring compared to the XRS. Trying to decide if I want to spring for the reflash but I'm thinking not if it neuters the fun of lift. 2. In a previous video you mentioned the common oil leak, was that the timing chain tensioner o-ring/gasket? If so have you replaced yours? Can't find much info on the 2zzge fix, only the 1zz...very easy on 1zz, not so much on the 2zz from what I understand. Thanks again for great XRS content. Just did my MWR shift mods yesterday, very happy.

No regrets with the reflash from me, I enjoy the lowered lift engagement but I understand it may not be for everyone. On my car specifically, I make probably a maximum of 145-150hp crank because of the altitude here in Colorado (I've lost about 15% power out here), so that'll play a part in the engine feeling a bit less lively too. The common oil leak is from the timing chain cover gasket, mine hasn't started leaking yet at 165k miles (not sure if previously replaced or not) and it is quite the process on the 2zz from what I've gathered. 2zzlow has some videos on replacing that gasket. Glad you're enjoying the videos, and that you're happy with the shift mods!

@@WillChang Cool. Next question, besides lowering lift and raising redline, does it improve the tune in the lower rev range at all or is it just about lift/redline?

@@gray25xt I had a 05 Cxrs with I/H/E and without tune the car drive boggy when completely stop then go. I needed to give it more gas to get her moving from a stop. I ended up getting a BASELINE tune and got the stock ECU reflashed with cat settings not deleted to pass smog. Tuned with I/H/E, she is a different beast! From stop and go, it chirps in first gear! Improved Bottom and mid range, this is important for fuel economy. With Lift settings lower at 6000 instead of 6800 and redline to 8450, the tune will allow driver to stay in LIFT in ever gear! Example from 2nd to 3rd and shift at 8000k, the RPM will drop to 6100 (still in lift with tune) then 4th etc. This will have a faster 0-60 time and faster car! However the car will not be as loud as stock and may doesnt seem faster, but top end 60mph+ thats where the Injen CAI will shine. How I beat an STI. I was going 70mph in 6th cruising at 3000rpm, STI was riding my but and then decided to pass. As he was speeding up beside me on my left, I down shifted to 3rd 2ZZ jumps to 6000 rpm, now im in LIFT the whole time, then 4th, 5th, 6th. This is a momentum car and I couldnt imagine a R9K tune or Apexi or AEM Standalone. Conclusion: If you have mods it will need a tune. If she stock, keep it stock and let her scream!

Redline MT90 is the #1 MTF for the C60 transmission with 2ZZ. It is the best but will be notchy when cold. I tried Syncromesh and it shifts like butter compared but I got same slight grinding. So I just changed back to Redline MT90 and no slight grinds but notchy again as I live in a cold climate. In my research, I would like to try AMSOIL 75W90 transaxle as it is 100% Synthetic and Royal Purple 75W90 as it is sychro safe but GL5, these fluids are harder to find. We want GL4 only and that's what Redline MT90 is and #1 for C60, but again notchy when cold. I will change to Amsoil when I do my Clutch 🤑

I always use 1 qt MT-90 then fill the rest of the way with Valvoline Synchromesh. Best of both IMO. Nice and slick in the cold, and no grinding. 03 XRS @212K mi

How cold does it get by you? My city gets to -40 so I really need the temperature protection

@@loganamurray64 -10 to -30ish. In my experience MT90 is notchy when cold. However MT90 is these tranny fluid for C60 as it is GL4 only.

@@tkflex2332 Alright, that shouldn't be too bad then, as long as there's no grinding im happy lol. Thanks

@@loganamurray64 Unfortunately there could possibly will be some slight grinding until the gear box warms up. I tried syncromesh, cocktail blends and lots of 75w90 GL5. I always end up back to Redline MT90. However, I havent tried these MTF but I am curious if they could be better. Amsoil 75w90 Manual Transaxle fluid, this is Full 100% synthetic GL4, but hard to find. Also Royal Purple 75w-90 GL5/GL4, supposed to be Syncro safe, but I am unsure for C60. Good luck! ps: Make sure you use the 17mm Fill plug to the far right of tranny at the 5th/6th gear side. The left 24mm, same as drain plug is service plug and you can only get 2.0 qrts in not the 2.4 qrts. Cheers 🤑

Thanks! I'd start with handling mods like stiffer suspension, larger sway bars, and wheels with good performance tires!
