In this video, our Ph.D student Narmada explains our recent research work on Interferenceless Coded Aperture Correlation Holography for Five-Dimensional Imaging of 3D Space, Spectrum and Polarization OR 5D-I-COACH.
We successfully demonstrated 5D I - COACH, integrating 3D space, spectrum, and polarization for the first time using a single camera shot. Leveraging the polarization-dependent light modulation of SLMs with phase masks (SL, QRDL), the technique achieved polarization- and wavelength-dependent image reconstruction with high temporal resolution. While strong polarization and wavelength discrimination were demonstrated, challenges such as low SNR (~32 dB) and reconstruction artifacts due to cross-correlation signal variations were identified. Optimization of diffractive elements and advanced computational methods, including deep learning, can address these challenges. The study, limited to two orthogonal polarization states, paves the way for expanding to additional polarization orientations and 6D imaging in the future, making it a promising tool for birefringence microscopy and functional imaging applications.
