what was your voltage drop over the bias resistor. With 403V on the plates and using a 250 ohm resistor your tubes will be biased way hot.. (well above 100% plate dissipation). ???

What needs to be done to the circuit to swap the tubs for a 6l6? Or the gz34 like you mentioned?

Thank you!! I was quite alarmed when I saw the very high B+ voltages especially at it was over the capacitor rating. Your video gave me the confidence to proceed. B+ drops below 475 after tubes pull it down on startup.

IT LOOKS LIKE YOU ARE PUTTING THE NEUTRAL SIDE OF THE AC TO THE SWITCH. THAT SHOULD NOT BE. YOU SHOULD SWITCH THE HOT WIRE ALWAYS AND LET THE NEUTRAL TIE TO THE NEUTRAL SIDE OF THE TRANSFORMER. AND YES I KNOW THE TRANSFORMER REALLY HAS NOT POLARITY.

ALL THE RESISTORS IN MY KIT WERE OFF TOLORANCE BY 10%.
