Loved the vid mate so much similar to my boat I got a 10ftr with a 5hp Merc and It has the same kind of rattle so I actually learnt something that vid cheers

Cheers mate, I appreciate it. Yeah a lot of tinnys do it. I have also found that the rattling is way worse when using a single cylinder motor as they do have more vibration. Cheers

Love that boat, we don’t get high freeboard hulls like that in south Florida…. A 15 or 20 on that would really cruise well!!!

Hi Mate, Yeah, that’s actually normal freeboard here where I live, I’ve noticed that In Florida that they have very low sides. you should check out my videos on my Fishnipper 11ft aluminium boat, it has amazing freeboard and is a long shaft transom, I’m super impressed. Cheers 🍻 Aussie Boat Guy 😎

hey mate, im 14, got my eyes on a 10 foot brooker tinny for fishing. my mate has a 2.5hp merc that we tested on his 11 foot and got it up to 18kmh. im thinking of buying the 2.5 for the 10 foot with a similar trailer to drag it to the water. is the 10 foot stable enough to fish out of?

Hey mate awesome video. I have the same motor but it’s doesn’t run aswell and keeps stalling in gear around 4500 to 5000 revs and sometimes in when in neutral. Do you have any suggestions.

Hey mate, Sounds like a fuel issue. Make sure your breather is open on your fuel cap. Other than that it may need a carburetor clean, I think I have a tutorial on KZbin on how to do that. Hope you sort it. Cheers 🍻

Hey mate! Have some questions if you would be kind enough to answer, I have a tohatsu 5hp on a 10ft tinny, Most I can pull out of it is around 0k and can’t get it up on the plane fully am I doing something wrong? I’m new to boating.
@promachracing3 жыл бұрын
Sorry 10k
@25hpboatracerman3 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, Yeah, too easy. With the low hp boats like 5hp, hull weight and weight onboard is one of the biggest issues with getting up on the plane. The 5hp tohatsu two stroke only just has the power to get a light tinny up on the plane with one onboard but if it’s set up wrongly or there is too much weight it will only get to about 15kph max. What make is your tinny? How much weight are you carrying onboard? Is it only one person? Chain, anchor, safety gear, oars, fuel, passengers, other stuff? Try moving the weight around - move what you can up forward and shift your weight forward while trying to get up on the plane. Try different trim pin settings (the pin that adjusts the motor angle). Try trimmed down (closest hole to the transom) to start, then try the next one after that etc until you find the balance between speed and comfort. It is also likely that a 5hp may not be enough, that tinny in my video is only about 30kgs (super light). Keep me posted 👍

@@25hpboatracerman Thanks for the reply mate! She’s got a little timber floor but other than that pretty basic/light I’m unsure on brand I’ll need to confirm that, but she’s a pretty light weight 10ft job as far as I can tell. I’ll do what you have mentioned tomorrow and see if I can get a different result, I’ve got a lead on a 8hp Mercury should I expect a noticeable difference if I went that way?
@25hpboatracerman3 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, Massive difference with the 8hp compared to a 5hp. I’m about 80kgs and one of my mates is heavier than me and a 5hp won’t plane out with just him in the boat. Not having a go at anyones weight at all, weight just affects boat performance. A flat floor may be the difference with a 5hp to get up on the plane, sometime it’s that close with a 5hp. The 8hp have a lot more torque and are twin cylinder. Also the 8hp being twin cylinder - there is a lot less vibration and shaking - they run a lot smoother due to being better balanced with the two cylinders. Keep me posted mate 👍

@25hpboatracerman3 жыл бұрын
Nice 👍 Yeah pretty tippy. Don’t feel like I’m going to tip it but I definitely notice it’s a small boat and I need to be carful when I move about onboard. It is even blown off course by heavy wind gusts while I am driving, makes it a bit fun. Definitely a smooth water setup. Rivers or nice days on the lake it’s perfect. Cheers

Would a 5hp be too big for a 2.8meter tinny?
@25hpboatracerman3 жыл бұрын
A 5hp two stroke might be ok on your 9ft tinny (definitely something you need to test out). My concern would be how tippy it is and flotation. That tinny I tested was only 3m long so yours may be pretty similar depending on your hull. A 3.3hp two stroke Mercury - Tohatsu is 13kgs and the 5hp Mercury- Tohatsu Is 20kgs. A 3.3hp is ok but won’t plane you that well compared to a 5. Cheers 🍻
@livinaus34323 жыл бұрын
Thanks heaps. It is pretty tippy. Might just go for a 3.3hp.👍

How to set the trim engine
@25hpboatracerman3 жыл бұрын
Normally try with the motor at 90 degrees to the keel at the start. If the boat still feels like it’s under performing at 90 degrees, try trimming it out (up) further by moving the trim pin another hole up. It’s not a bad idea to try a few trim settings anyway as each boat is different. If your talking about how the boat was trimmed while I left the wharf, that was set on shallow water drive as the water was not deep enough next to that wharf, once the water was deep enough I lowered the motor. Cheers 🍻
