Same here. When I heard they are fighting Russians with molotov cocktails it brought back that some of my family did the same when they fought against the Nazis in the Warsaw ghetto uprising. Only a few made it out alive, escaping via the sewers and joining the partisans, a couple by surviving the camps.

@@grzegorzbrzeczyszczykiewic5889 For fucks sake, shut the fuck up with your nonsense. Ukrainians are now literally refugees and victims of war. Stop making everything about yourself and victimising yourself for no reason other than attention. It happened 80 years ago, but the war in Ukraine is happened right now. Get over it. This blatant "whataboutism" needs to stop when it comes to Ukrainian civilian mothers and children fleeing. Find the decency in your heart for that...

@@ertobert3459 It happened 80 years ago but we still have unresolved issues around the subject. Many Ukrainians live and work in Poland and the problem is that for them the ppl who had tortured polish kids before they killed them are heroes. It's not a problem now but we will face those unresolved problems in the future. You misunderstood what the man wrote, calm down.

@@arpa9009 Exactly, some of the family members I mentioned who joined the partisans also fought with the general Warsaw uprising. The Russians were supposed to cross the river to help them fight but they let them down. I know the war never left my family's memory. It was hell. So hard to see so many innocent people suffering again. Respect to all who are helping them.

The cult and fanaticism that surrounds the Nationalists of the OUN-UPA and SS Galizien in Ukraine, who are responsible for the genocide against Jewish and Polish civilians during World War II. Let us condemn the cult of cruelty and hatred. The report of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights accuses Azov of war crimes: looting, unlawful detention and torture (and not only them, as far as the Ukrainian forces are concerned. The Wolfsangel, or wolf's hook, is also a well-known neo-Nazi symbol, previously used by the Wehrmacht and SS. However, the Azovs explain that it is an abbreviation of Ідея Нації, i.e. "Idea of the Nation".

Poland has suffered a lot because of wars, mostly in recent history, so yea if you seek a shelter and help running from danger (this is important part) polish people will help. There are also two factors that makes this help from polish people even more amazing is that we are still a poor country - comparing to the West Europe, milions of Poles are working partly or full in the West, and another our WW2 history with Ukraine was very complicated and tragic

He seems like an amazing person and it's so sad that he went through so much pain. My mom was in a slave labor camp as a child too...She was interrogated with a gun to her head, slapped, stripped and searched for tattoos, doused with petrol, then the worst parts she said were starvation and the daily gathering in the courtyard at 7am. Those gatherings were scary because the Germans would call the names of selected prisoners and they would take them away for execution...

Germans put to the concentration camps millions of ppl, personally had a chance to met few of them of different origins Jewish, Polish, Azerbaijani, Russian and can say only 1 think, ppl with great hearts wounded by trauma who never complained. My great grandfather survived Dachau, came by mostly walking or illegally using trains etc. to Poland to die few weeks after due to experiments made on him at the family house, according to my grandmother he has never said any complaints about what happened. My great grandmother probably seeing what's going on, that his end is coming, asked the local photographer to come go take a picture. Now this last pic is at my house framed, every time I have a bad moment or complain I look at that strong man who is smiling and feel like the biggest brat. That's my biggest motivation. I feel sorry that never had a chance to meet him, but I saw similar reflection in the other ppl who survived German holocaust, they have the goldest hearts and empathy, I think cause they already knew how hard is to be on the other side. In Wladyslaw I see the same.

@@arpa9009 Wow...Yes, both of your grandparents sound like incredibly strong spirits. My mom also did not complain and many years later when Germany was negotiating reparations to victims, she said she would never take that money. @@JULOC05 yes the pride as well, my grandmother also didn't apply for the reparations after loosing her father due to holocaust. Indeed they just want to forget, they were always hiding their tattoos,. In the US I met an old lady cause of the one project, once she heard me speaking Polish, and she had tears in her eyes, I asked her if she is fine, and she shared story of being a concentration camp kid taken from Poland to German camp, not to mention that the American soldier who found her as first when they were liberating the camps became years later her husband, incredible story, anyway she told me that as an orphan she ended up in the US and decided to never speak this language again, as it reminded her of her lost family (her parents, brother and best friend from the camp died there), she wanted to forget her past connections and previous life till meeting her husband by not using the language, changing name, etc. Anyhow, the survivors I met were always very special, there was something in them, something deep, and they were also very modest ppl. I'm so sorry to. her about your mom, I believe she was a person like that as well. Ahh what a cruel world and seems not to change...

It's because men are more likely to be seen as the breadwinners when poverty strikes, and have a duty to go out and send money home. Whereas in Ukraine, the stereotype that men are more expendable means they have to stay and fight. Nice attempt at race-baiting!

Why aren’t these men coming from the Middle East and Africa is go back to the countries in fight for your countries these are basically women and children and disabled the elderly from Ukraine who has been attacked and bombed and killed by a communist regime do not allow these poor Ukrainian people to be tricked into going to Russia protect these Ukrainian people America needs to bring them women and children to America because they do have family here they have the right to be in America to their the ones that are the real refugees in there’s plenty Americans that are willing to take them in with open arms and we will gladly take them into our homes these poor people have flashbacks of what the hell happened in 1945 they deserve so much better Their such kind warm hearted people who just watched their lives be destroyed by evil

You think that Poles suddenly changed and suddenly became good. Not Poles have always been good, but the propaganda of our neighbors from the East, but also from the West, presents us as an intolerant, unruly and undemocratic nation. We can distinguish between people in need of help and people in need of an easy life.

! URGENT IMPORTANT MESSAGE ! Plz, send all the extra items, clothes and gifts to Moldova, this small country, the poorest in Europe, no member of but UE or NATO. Moldova welcomed 2 or 3 times more refugees per 100.000 inhabitants, and they do not have the same income, the same donations, and not the same huge Polish diaspora around the world that is collecting help around the world. Without talking about all the donation from Western Europe and elsewhere that start to arrive via Germany.
