Bob BIswas in Kahaani was apt, well the movie was about Vidya Bagchi and Bob Biswas was not even the main villain, so it was enough also they made a whole prequel for Bob Biswas, tbh Kahaani was perfect in every single way.

Bob biswas was not a waste. Also his ending was something no one could have predicted. May be that's what the maker wanted. End a strong character like that and then dropped a bomb shell on us at the climax.
