ashton tends to not have many solo vocal lines because it’s so hard to put all your energy into drumming like he does and also have steady breath support for vocals but there are a few songs on the first three albums where he gets a bridge or a line here or there! he’s always on point with backing vocals and harmonies when he has them though :) excited for you to check out his solo project Superbloom (along with luke’s) once you finish the 5sos discography because ashton’s individual artistry and talent really shines

Two really quick things: 1. 500 years of Winter (AKA the pizza song) was done as a joke but the fans loved it so much that I'm pretty sure it got added to an album 2. Don't mind me, just sobbing with nostalgia. Wherever You Are 100% KILLED the fandom when it was released. You should check out their Keek compilations in your spare time. They made a whole bunch of them on and off tour, really bringing everyone along for the ride which I believe is part of the reason the fandom felt/feels so close to them. The WYA video is mostly made up of the classic keeks/livestreams they did so really we just sobbed uncontrollably

close as strangers never failing to make my heart stop. 🥺 i will always be sad that ‘wrapped around your finger’ gets left out of these as well - michael lead and absolutely gorgeous. you should definitely give it a listen. also! you should check out there ‘how did we end up here?’ documentary. it’s in the limbo space between self titled and SGFG and is really informative about that time in their lives. also kickass concert moments! thanks for all you do, this video literally made my morning! (also… i always relate to people who lose their minds over Michael. fricken same.)

Wherever You Are is so emotional because it was like a goodbye video to the og fans. It was their last song that was released before they blew up completely, their last unofficial song, and both the band and their fans knew their relationship was going to change. They were going to be too busy to be as active on social media, specifically Keek, they weren’t going to be able to stop and talk to fans casually for safety reasons because there were now too many people in crowds and they were going to be rushing from one place to the next. The music video is like a “thank you for all you’ve done for us but we have to move onto the next stage of our career now, don’t worry we still love you” There were so many emotions when that video came out, everyone was so proud of the boys for making it but devastated that they had to share their favourite band with the world and lose that intimacy with them. I sometimes forget how small the fandom used to be lol
