See this is a battle I've been asking for and waiting on, I love all the HBCU bands, and how they have the crank fest for the last couple years , but PV hasn't been in one. PV has gotten so much bigger , better, and the SOUND is very balanced!! This band is growing so much by the years!! Very proud of these panthers!! 💜💛 Keep Going!! SU's sound has improved some, and they have some good arrangements. But you have to give PV some credit. They are coming with it. Sounds so different than a couple clips I heard earlier in the year. Of course Southern is louder on most songs, but anyone acting like PV wasn't handling their bizz is just hating.

To PV: I haven't heard that kind of sound since pre-2010 in all honesty; Impressed and Honored; especially with the bottom the MSD has currently. Kush must be gettin yall back on point. Also, yall last 2 songs could have been alot more technical...Humble and Push It is high school shit... must be the players' issue instead of the director. To SU: I mean damn. Being from the H myself; yall have been Holding Solid for going on a damn decade plus....but I've seen/witnessed and heard yall blow chunks out bands for trying to "out-muscle" yall on a selection...don't act like yall too damn good for TX bands nowadays. Last thing: Both had damn good SQ and power as a whole (even thou PV kinda won that battle. To play that full & balanced over a hittin bottom like MSD is no easy feat); Song Selection went to SU. I don't like when people do that. But I have been following su all my life being from New Orleans. Before Katrina high school bands ruled in New Orleans. So I don't have any recollection of pv being storied or a powerhouse doesn't mean that they didn't have their day in the sun. It's just that su for the last 40 years has been that band. Storied history, big brass sound, drills, dolls, Super bowl(s) sugar bowls, inaugurations, ranked history, etc. But it was a great battle. If you want you can look at views. The most watched compared to others. Whether they come to support or hate they watch. And they are getting better by the year. Whatever they were this year will pale compared to next year... Their only goal and life is not to be better than any other band but to better than the band they were last year... #SU #SUBR #SouthernU #HumanJukeBox

Finally one live up to this battle. This year 2022 is just as good or better due to two things the lights going out and Us PV not having people coming in wrong. It took a while but 2022 just as good! I don’t know how they did it because they were sounding real suspect Labor Day Classic. But as I said under this years video I think that was all planned out from the start of the season Thats the only thing that explains it. If you even listen to the zero vs Southern this year 2022 the Storm sounds like 2 different bands from the zero to the 5th. We sound just as good as 15-19 in this 2022 5th battle vs Southern. They didn’t sound nowhere near that good against TSU or Grambling though State Fair was much better.

Ummm Southern, I'm sorry, but Prarie View took this. Plus they have a real drumline and the drum majors actually are uniformed and structured. As a director, having the ability to maintain balance is key. These guys definitely took the cake on this. Southern had some good song selections, but they're given way too much credit sometimes. Loud doesn't always win battles, the ability to allow all of the parts to perfect the song is what wins.

Ok so if everyone has eyes amd can see SU is being filmed from the side. PV however is turned towards the Juke which you get the full affect. I will say they did very well and has came up. The Juke however continues to be on a different level. Juke with the Win. Good job PV. Yall sound much better than JSU.

W SU for balance, blend, totality, song selection = A+, difficulty, arrangements and a superb, platinum record quality sound. PV loved you, still a little rough around the edges. Balanced, yet lacking in delivery as a UNIT. Music gets lost at times, especially the melodies. Ww intonation is off, and brass has a few missed pitches. Pv is working. Add long tones, chorale and ensemble rehearsal.

PV rising like cream. I gotta say I love PV balance and ability to not drown out the melody but have to work on those missed notes.
