As a 5, the cell phone battery illustration is so good... I can relate to that. In a large/loud group of people, I can feel my battery charge dropping by the minute.

Very interesting hearing how these traits express themselves in 2 very different 5's! I loved hearing their coping strategies and how they have grown. It gives my shrivelled little 5 heart some hope!

I resent being married because there are all this expectations about holidays and anniversary parties and presents from my husbands parents and I feel so stressed out that I have to show up for this social constructs and replying within a certain timeframe. I just keep thinking that marriage is not for me because people just don’t understand and interpret everything the worst way. I’m my best and more loving with my pets. They don’t place any emotional demands on you but are always there with unconditional affection and loyalty and most importantly they don’t judge me. I do feel lonely without a pet. I’ve lived for years without human relationships and never have gotten lonely. I do miss kissing and sex, but not the emotional mess or conflict that most relationships have and dependency to the system as well as the need to compare themselves to others🌿🌸

Great hearing from fives that are also women especially hearing them talk about envy. I keep hearing that word envy thrown around me and am always confused. I think it is people projecting their own insecurities on me. I think I was mistyped as a 9 becauseI laughed exactly at the same time they laughed and found myself having similar reactions to the questions in this interview. I was left thinking, my goodness, I need more women friends who are fives!!!

The question at the start, I would feel surprised, honestly. I don't really let people in so someone magically knowing something about me like that would feel a little intrusive probably, like, "How did you know to ask that? Stay away from me. I feel like you know too much without my permission."

Depends who asks me about the battery life. My husband, another 5, I would love that because he would understand & help me or give me space. My mom, not sure her number, has always been very understanding of my personality & would also help or give me space. However, another close family member, if they asked, they would roll their eyes then either mock or make fun of me, try to convince me that that is a wrong thing to feel, & then pressure me or manipulate/guilt trip me to keep going & do what they want or pout & ice me out for a week or so. For people who understand, I'd love it. For those who would use it against me or mock me, I'd rather they just not ask.

Wow…this is such an amazing interview and insight into 5! I’m really struggling with typing myself and I relate so closely to most of 5, but almost everything I’ve read or watched makes 5s out to be the mad scientist and extremely awkward and unable to communicate with people. These two were very “normal” in their demeanor and I can totally relate to them! Now I need to go take a long shower and think about everything that was said 😂

A friend was having a relationship problem and she started to tell me about it and responded with investigative questions and she was like, “No fixing needed, just need you to listen.”

Which seems unbalanced as an interaction. And they desire solutions then why not just endure it quietly/don’t burden people with the negativity.

I’ve taken numerous tests, and the best representation I can find for myself is 5w4. I’m not mad about this interview series, but I will say that I do not feel represented by the 5 specialists you brought to this interview. They come at this topic from a very female-centric world view, which if we’re being honest, sounds more like a traditional 5w6. I’m a 5, and anybody who knows me will tell you that if they know enneagrams, but I have pride, ambition, etc that pervades my every decision in life. I want to be seen for who I am and what I’m capable of, even if I don’t want a ton of limelight and need to recharge by myself. I dunno guys. Am I in the wrong place? I don’t mean to attack or demean anybody’s life experience here, I just think that the 5w6 was over represented and I found myself not relating to their experiences very much as a “5w4.”

Thank you for sharing. We can see how sometimes you may not fully resonate with our guests, but the Enneagram is much deeper than just main types and wings. This is why it can be challenging to type yourself. You might be interested at looking into subtypes for the 5, because those help distinguish each type even further. We hope this helps.😁

Many 5w4s can be intensely emotional in their inner hearts, but they just don't openly show their emotions. 5w4s prefer to deal with emotions by themselves, so they don't feel the need to make other people know their emotions. When we talk about emotion, it's often about emotions between people and emtions based on interpersonal relationships. But the emotions of 5w4s are very private and very personal. Vincent Willem van Gogh is a 5w4, and he is quite like a 4w5. 5w4s can be good at facing their emotions naturally. 5w4s are usually not afraid of emotions. 5w6s are usually really emotionless in their inner heart. 5w4s are more interested in things like philosophy, art, linguistics and typology. 5w6s are more interested in hard sciences like math, physics, engineering and computer science, which requires precise calculations, quantification and analytical thinking. 5w4s are more curious and creative, while 5w6s are more rational and analytical. 5w4s can be interested in natural sciences like physics just because of curiosity, and they are usually not interested in highly analytical activities such as solving physics problems via precise calculations. 5w6s are interested in solving problems via analytical thinking. 5w6s are really problems solvers. 5w6s focus more on whether the knowledge they have is useful and lucrative. 5w6s are more practical, pragmatical and utilitarian than 5w4s.

I’m probably a 5w4. There are stereotypes that 5s are emotionless like robots. Many 5w4s can be intensely emotional in their inner hearts, but they just don't openly show their emotions. 5w4s prefer to deal with emotions by themselves, so they don't feel the need to make other people know their emotions, which is a little bit like Fi in Objective Personality System. I think 5w4s are more Fi like and 5w6s are more Ti like. When I was a little child, my emotions could be very strong. I cried whenever I felt upset.

Is it me, or is it such a type 5 behavior to NOT be on video during an interview.

I think it pigeon-holes me as a #5 w4. I’m not sure exactly why, but it triggers me and feels presumptuous and invasive, esp someone I don’t know well asking me this. It’s limiting and patronizing. Humans esp 5s are complex and this is too simplified. I would not feel 💯 understood and annoyed if someone asked me this and would resist being put in a box.

How god created them to be? 5w4 INTP. I do not believe in god. Let’s describe personalities without throwing in religious terms, or framing things in terms of religion. Not everyone is religious!
