We discovered our water leak today… thankfully. We replaced the top half of our engine in august of 2020… almost spent 8k on it and this part was new almost 3 years ago… and has failed already. #1 was our problem. Thank you for saving our minds trying to find this in our ‘04 Ford f250 power stroke. Our truck went down the day Covid shut the US down.

Mine rubbed on the FICM like that, but a lot of it was probably my fault because I deleted the EGR system with an ODAWGS Diesel intake and I had to splice a coolant line into it pulling it down closer to the FICM. The FICM going bad when it did probably saved my ass because when I pulled it off the hose was almost rubbed all the way through. Couple thousand more miles and I might have been stranded in a very remote area.

I also have a coolant leak right by rear block plug on the backside of the motor on drives side, the header bolt and everything around it is wet. My only concern I can't spot any leaks from hoses and can't tell if the plug is the actual leak.
@chrisdb42782 жыл бұрын
Just found a leak. Possibly a #5. Coolant is getting on the outside of the driver's side frame rail, just forward of the wheel well. Looks like coolant might be dripping on top of the curved portion of the plastic fender well liner, underneath the battery or air filter, then when the coolant gets to the forward flat section of the fender liner, it gets on the frame rail and runs down the outside. This just started and left a nickle sized wet spot on the driveway. Is it possible the leak is the degas bottle and it runs down the hoses all that way? Not sure of the hose routing under the battery and air filter.
@alberttowner4651 Жыл бұрын
What did you find out about this leak? I have the same leak at the same area. Did you find out what it was ????????
@chrisdb4278 Жыл бұрын
@@alberttowner4651 My leak was the degas bottle (coolant reservoir). Leaking not at the bottom hose connection like usual, but at the seam where the top is joined to the bottom portion of the container, and it was only at the seam where it faced the firewall. Found this by reaching under the reservoir when the truck had been driven a while and felt the bottom of the reservoir was wet, though no visible sign of leaks. When parked, the way the coolant drips on all the stuff below it, the puddle ended up in the location I described, as opposed to further aft like you'd think. Got a replacement degas bottle from Autozone, was not expensive, and replaced it in maybe half an hour. Note that I siphoned as much coolant as I could out of the reservoir in order to re-use it. It holds more than you'd think.

@@alberttowner4651 You could just buy a replacement cap. It is possible you got a bad one. I've also found that with the aftermarket reservoir, the fluid level (cold) seems to want to be a little lower than with the OEM. I suspect the shape and volume of the bottle are not 100% same as OEM.

Is it maybe possible that the lower dormant hose was resting on the intercooler pipes and burnt a hole in the hose? Cause I checked everywhere and can't seem to find it

Can you use pepper to stop a small leak in your 2006 super duty diesel

Hey I know this has nothing to do with coolant leaks with what im about to say. But what are your thoughts about a " Loose " gearbox and doing alignment on them on powerstroke super duty trucks.
@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod5 жыл бұрын
Them gear boxes can wear out. As long as all the front end components are tight and everythings good, youll probably have to replace the gear box to get rid of the slop. If its too far gone, doing an alignment can be a pain.

My 2003 6.0 is leaking coolant near the power steering pump. It appears to be leaking from the front cover once it’s up to temp. Fairly minor but it’s seeping. Is the front cover gasket a bad job?

Mine is leaking from below the water pump. So I replaced the water pump and it's still leaking. I cleaned the housing and everything. So I'm not sure if it's the water pump. Does anyone have an answer to this? Thanks

@OutdoorCQB3 жыл бұрын
Noooooo lol... I was gonna ask about 1. I really don't wanna pull the turbo.. I couldn't even get the downpipe off today to check for oil.. I'm afraid I won't be able to get everything back together lol. What is the fix? You just buy some hose and reclamp it?
@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod3 жыл бұрын
Watch my turbo video, i had it off in 10 min!!!!
@matsgarageandstuff3 жыл бұрын
It took some finesseing of the turbo to get it off once you get the turbo off its not that bad I recommend cleaning out boost controller valve and oil cooling ports. Turbo tends to get gunk built up around the boost controller valve. And yes you will need to replace a 3 inch or less 3/4inch hose.
@OutdoorCQB3 жыл бұрын
Just confirmed the leak with a pressure test kit I got off Amazon. So yeah I'll have to go ahead and get that turbo off
