Love this channel. I own a 2006 f-250 with a 6.0. Complete frame up restoration. My engine build is next. Your channel had helped a ton with engine build ideas. And your new website will be killer. Best luck with everything bro. 👍👍👍👍

its well worth it. i just got done with a engine rebuild on my truck. i had a injector tip break off about 2 years ago and 30,000 miles ago. and all of one Cylinders piston rings in the oil pan. and down on compression on the 7 remaining cylinders. ended up buying a engine from a guy who runs his entire buisness on 6.0L's the engine i bought was a boom truck. with like 80,000 miles on the odometer. but he showed me pictures of the hours and i couldn't belive it until i got a good look at the piston rings and cylinders. had like 15,000 hours on it and almost all high idle with the EGR plugging away. the bearings suprisingly looked brand new. crank and cam. and rod bearings showed very very minor signs of wear. i measured the cylinders still within Stock OEM spec. and they were more straight and Circular than OEM spec calls. not even out of round or tapered. all 8 rings in this engine were stuck. and worn heavily from the EGR grinding down the piston rings. he wasnt lying that the truck ran good. its just it had almost no power. i can see why with 7 stuck piston rings from soot buildup

I see you cleaned up the crew cab shop truck. I saw it on your frank built performance website under the 2006 powerstroke section. Looking good buddy👍👍👍

Looks like a 03 motor your right. 90MM water pump, oil logs, rocker arms have metal clips, front cover, piston domes were slightly different, used a different glow plug part number, damn ICP under turbo, round EGR cooler, rumored the 2003 camshaft was slightly more aggressive than later years. Very strong bottom ends. If the top end was as solid as the bottom end it could have been a legend. Crank looks good quick clean and micro polish. They can hopefully clean up lifter bores! What a steal! Rod bolts are like $50 for a set

Yep, if someone comes out with a common rail top end these will be a force to be reckoned with.

@@FrankBUILTperformance no doubt. I have had good luck with mine but I overhauled everything at 250k for piece of mind along with colt cams stage 2 and O ring heads n studs. Took .004 and .005” off each deck surface to true up flat. Had to shave the pistons a touch to keep my protrusion down below spec. A CP3 Common rail setup would be epic for these. HEUI works just more complicated and more shit to go wrong. Love these little bastard engines.

You said you replace the heads each build. What heads do you normally use if you're doing modest upgrades to the engine?

Love your channel bro. I have an 05 F350. Basically stock except a 4” exhaust. I need an EGR “upgrade” and a ficm tune and I’ll be set for a while.

did lifters fail from the longer pushrods?

Depends if the heads have ever been machined
