Great video. we used stucco mixing pans to drain the coolant from the block the big black bins at home depot. then install fumoto valves atleast on my personal truck i did for the block drain that way you can hook a hose to them and just open the valve

As someone who’s never worked on a 6.0, it’s amazing to me how “updated” of a design they are over the 7.3s. But this video makes me feel like I could work on one just as easy

Wow what a job, I can see why they move the engine partially under the firewall but what a pita to work on, I’m learning and really enjoying your videos 😁👍

I like how these are very in-depth. I wonder if you can do a video shows how to do the head gaskets with cab on and how you do the steps?
@Atomic_Diesel
@Atomic_Diesel 5 ай бұрын
Thank you! Unfortunately I won’t do them with cab on. I can just do a much better job either pulling engine or cab. I think the key to doing this job correct is being comfortable and relaxed and you won’t be comfortable fighting the heater box and laying on your belly.

@@Atomic_Diesel could you show a video how to test early 03 hpop. One thing you can't find anything how to tell if it's bad just a guess till you get there. Any maybe at way to rebuild one.

If i knew a month ago how deep id be into ny 07 f350 id have at min taken the front "clip" off. I spent the better part of the last month basically doing a "plank" across my radiator/motor. And i live in swfl. Its been mid to upper 90s with 80% or more humidity. But ill be dang nabbid iv i ever take her back to the stealership. At this point i have a block connected to a tranny. Ill prob just pull it to put it all back together. What sucks is i didnt do my radiator flush b4 all this. But i did do an oil change literally the day before i started. Theres 100 or more wasted😂

no heat shield on up pipes / rear near ICP fear the FICM wires getting baked hard.

All aftermarket up pipes have no area to bolt stock heat shield back on. I always wrap mine and or have them ceramic coated!

Thanks for the video, very informative and thorough. Do you have a particular head supplier you recommend? I have been looking at the UFC o-ring head. Also, how long is that sharpening stone, 10-12"? I am having a very hard time finding one that long.

It’s about 12”. I personal have only used PSP and Kill Devil Heads but I would still have either checked at the machine shop!

International did a shit job on surface finishes in terms of deck and head surfaces IMO the nicer ther surface the better the seal when it comes to a MLS headgasket. Without pulling the block you can hand lap the deck surface which is super labor intensive and there is a guy on here I believe his channel is "TooManyToys" very informative but dry and drawn out but is worth a watch

It’s okay to be nervous! You’ve got it, just take your time with everything! I will try and make a video very soon on block prep and stud instructions. Also if you have any questions while tackling the job don’t hesitate to shoot me a message!

The job usually comes in around the 6-7k ball park range (parts and labor).

Any thoughts on psp or kdd heads ?

Either or are fine. Just take them to your local machine shop and have them checked for flatness before you throw them on.

As long as you have a very reputable machine shop near you, I would let them ring them. If not just buy them ringed.

Is it common to see studded trucks blow head gaskets ?
@Atomic_Diesel
@Atomic_Diesel 6 ай бұрын
Very! Of all the 6.0s I’ve tore apart with popped gaskets, only about 2 or 3 still had stock head bolts. All the others were studded.

Do you resurface the exhaust manifolds? After doing a head gasket jobs I’ve found the exhaust manifolds are never flat.

I do. I very rarely see them leak but just a little extra thing I like to do.

Have you installed or had any experience with the dummy plug/stand pipes from Dieselsite? Looks like they did a complete redesign and they are double o-ringed
@Atomic_Diesel
@Atomic_Diesel 6 ай бұрын
I do not have any personal experience with them, but I think it’s a really good design and wouldn’t hesitate to use them. I would just ask where their o rings come from.
