Another good video with content that I need to know! I have a 2004 6.0 that starts, runs until it is hot, and will not restart. I bought is as a body donor truck for my 2001 7.3L but would eventually like to get the 6.0 to reliably run so that I can sell. This video gives an idea of where to start.

have you seen the dieselsite stand pipes and dummy plugs? that's what I used in my rebuild over the winter

I have. I’ve seen them fail already unfortunately.

Can I do this same style test on a 7.3 to check for leaking injector orings? Awesome video 🤙 I always watch your videos all the way through. I got me an 05’ 6.0 excursion and a 96 7.3 so your videos are great!

Glad to hear it and thank you for watching! You can do this same type of test!

You probably said what to torque dummy plug and stand pipe to. Mine is 2 piece style with 1/2 square fitting. I purchased o rings. I am waiting for those to show. What should I torque my style to? I would so appreciate your input. Thanks for the input also on doing this project. It has been fun except for I am 63 and everything hurts after a day wrenching.

I always put all mine at 60 ft lbs. Congratulations on still wrenching at that age, I’m only 28 and I hurt mostly every day!

Ive got an 05 6.0 and it sat for 4 years or more and at low rpm it will shift but at any higher that 2k rpm it will stay in the gear its in and has no full throttle it wont go above 3k rpm on the road. When in low rpm shifting after about 45mph on the highway it has no more engine left to give. Is it just a tune issue? If i could speak to you personally and explain more it would be a huge help. Thanks

Can you use forscan to close the IPR as well?

I wouldn’t see why not. I don’t have any personal experience with the software but it shouldn’t be much different.

I’ve got a 6.0 powerstroke im about sure it’s hydro locked just replaced the starter and it still won’t crank over. What is your best suggestion to start at on it?
@Atomic_Diesel6 ай бұрын
Pull glow plugs and turn over by hand! Most common cause of hydrolocking I’ve seen is blown injector o rings from improper installation.

I'm really looking to buy a 6.0 later this year. I'm not looking for it to do any work or be a daily driver, just a 2nd fun truck. I do my own maintenance and have heard you need to pull the cab to do head gaskets or anything really deep in the engine. How true is that? I only have a gravel driveway to work in, so pulling the cab isn't really an option for me. Would I be shooting myself in the foot trying to do it cab on engine in place?
@georgesrisomsak96507 ай бұрын
The 6.0 can have anything done in cab. It's more work, absolutely, harder on the back, and space constraints make it extra fun... The engine can be pulled out of the front removing cooling cores and core support. As a previous Ford diesel dealer tech, I speak from experience working on these. Probably the best 2nd fun truck you could muster. They are really fun, and not bad to work on in my opinion. Bang for $!

@georgesrisomsak9650 Good to hear, I definitely don't mind doing it the hard way. I need something fun to drive when I break my other truck that isn't my wifes Toyota lol.
@Atomic_Diesel7 ай бұрын
I personally will not do them with cab on. You can pull the heater box and tackle it that way but in my opinion it’s more of a struggle than it is worth. When I first got into this trade I would just pull the engine right out the front. Then you can reseal everything and replace all 16 lifters if you choose to do so.

@Atomic_Diesel I'm going to look at one that's got a crank so start issue tomorrow. The bodies super clean so I might just rip the engine out and just do all the work in my garage then. Thanks for the input.

I got a question for you. I got a 03 6.0 one of the hpop olds fell out of the HPop. Do you know a good boroscope affordable one to fish it out. I got an endoscope but I can't seem to locate it. Or any other tips or tricks to get it?
@Atomic_Diesel7 ай бұрын
Are you referring to the ball bearing in the side of the pump? If so they will almost always fall down into the oil pan.
@Andrew-ju4be7 ай бұрын
@@Atomic_Diesel it's the 8 mm bolt that goes on in the discharge tube filled in.

Is that just an o-ring replacement or does it also get a white teflon ring to support it. Ford really screwed you! Ford is ruining their reputation. Your channel is great for 6.0 owners. Thank you.
@Atomic_Diesel25 күн бұрын
Thank you! Yes it’s just a set of replacement o rings, no teflon support on the lower small rings.
