Ok, look. It's November 2023. I'm here because my 2003 6.0 shut off going down the road. I followed this to a T. Crank starts checking data. IPR snapping to 83.9% every time. Followed this to pull the part. Old part out. It's the old style with an open screen. The new part has the peace sign triangle screen holder. New part in. The truck starts right up. IPR doesn't get above 55%. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. She's steady and strong again.

Geez Ron, If your looking down on us watching your videos. Thanks, you have helped so many people. You have honestly probably saved normal diesel owners millions showing us how to fix diesel problems on our own. I'm actually a certified motorcycle tech and certified gasoline car tech. So I'm no dummy when it comes to working on engines but no way would of I had a clue how to work on a diesel without his videos. Diesel engines are just so different from gasoline engines. Yeah they have a few of the same parts but 90% is just different.

Badass! Thanks for taking time to post these vids. Quick question, hope you can help. I was driving home today from a jobsite in Palm Springs. My truck was running great. I came up on traffic, let off the throttle and she died. I got her over to the shoulder and she would not start. I checked my gauges, everything good except not enough oil pressure to start. At first, I had no base pressure, I disconnected the icp and got my base pressure back. Now, back at home and in my shop. I pulled the ipr valve and the damn screen is stuck in the hpop!!!! How about that!!! I suppose I'll just fish it out. What do you think?? I'm going to run out in the morning and pick up a new icp and ipr. Thanks for your time Ron. You're the man!!!

Trying to clean IPR .Made a cut out socket to remove IPR and when it came out the nut and elec. part came out and a small needle valve came as well with a magnet. The valve body stayed in the pump housing ,and all that is there to try remove it is the male threads sticking out . How do I get valve body out without damaging the threads .The videos are a great help , my IPR valve must be different than the one shown. My truck is a 2005. Thanks

Followed the guide and it worked, Thanks for the tips. Problem was the first replacement was an aftermarket from some crook on Amazon. Lasted about 2 weeks. Bought one from FOrd and same issue, Then I noticed the screen was missing from the Amazon unit. Shoved a boroscope in the hole and can see what I suspect to be the screen (looks like the Mercedes logo which matches the old Ford unit screen support plastic). Which is likely why the Ford unit never worked. Options: Pull the screen from the Ford and hope for the best. Use a screw or similar to try to remove the screen. Tried using the fuel pump. Not luck. Any thoughts welcome. Happy to send pics as needed. Last question, How to tell if HPOP vs IPR? Just in case.... I have an Edge reader if that helps?? Thanks Nick..

Hey Ron Big fan, I got a 2006 6.0 love my truck got it with 130K and put another 90K in 2 yrs. It was loosing coolant and couldn't figure it out. Until I saw some of your videos. Before I could get it to start, it just wouldn't start, I figured it was my stc HPOP fitting. I went ahead and did EGR cooler, dummy plug, ICP sensor and STC fitting. It will crank but no start. I live in a remote area and it's a problem to get someone with a scanner to come out here. I'm think it hydro lock on me. I couldn't find a video on your site to help me look for solid evidence of hydro lock. Please help what and where should I start looking. Thanks for helpful video you have provided in past.

Great walk through; thank you. I have an 04 with a no start [only happens every now and then] , but I can usually get it running with a small squirt of starter fluid. I am pretty sure it is a fuel/electrical combination causing my issue because The previous owner of the truck kept getting a contribution and low voltage CEL for the #2 injector and replaced it but the errors are still showing after a no start and rough idle [#2 cutting out I assume]. Could this be the FICM or possibly the IPR? FICM voltage is a constant 48, I am going to use this to test the ICP, IPR and a few other things. Is this more likly to be an electrical harness issue or one of these valves/sensors? Ill have all the voltages checked tnight. the Guy who did the injector swore up and down the the Harness checked out when he put the electrometer on it.

Hello, I have an 06 f250 with the 6.0. my truck starts and runs, but dies when it gets hot (driving about 20-30 miles). my scanner read a p2291 (or p2290) code. I assume that because it starts and runs that means the IPR valve is just bad, not clogged like in this case? any info would really help
@sarbound358 жыл бұрын
Hey Ron, I really need your help. Kind of a funny story, I had a crank no start, got a scan done by a mechanic and he said bad IPR. He then gave me a part number which ended up being an ICP valve. I had no idea and just bought it as per his instructions. When I took it apart, realizing that it was an ICP not IPR I decided to take the ICP out anyway and check it (since I had everything taken apart anyway). It had oil leaking through as soon as I unhooked the wires so from what I've read and seen, it needed to be replaced as well anyway. I did as you said and hooked both the IPR and ICP connectors and got the guy to scan it again. Funny thing is, adversely to your video, I have a great ICP pressure but IPR is at 84.75. In this video, you had bad ICP pressure and 84.75 IPR. So question is, with IPR at 84.75 AND/BUT WITH ICP READING GOOD PRESSURE, is the IPR bad? I super appreciate your help. Thanks, Dan
@sarbound358 жыл бұрын
After watching your video more closely for the 100th time, I see that with the IPR fixed, and turning the key, the IPR initially shot up to 84.76 but then worked its way down. I'm not sure if the guy who scanned my truck after replacing the ICP took initial data (showing high IPR) or if he took the reading a little later into the crank after the IPR reading had come down. I guess my question above still applies though.
@sarbound358 жыл бұрын
So the guy came back and scanned it again and the IPR remained at 85% for the duration of the 8 second crank. The FORD dealership near where I live says its most likely an HPOP but what do you think? I'm gonna build a IPR socket and try and get it off to check that as a last resort.

Man i wish he was still here to ask him stuff. Anyone happen upon this maybe weigh in on this maybe, i have an early 6.0 and the plug and wires on my ipr are so badly cooked that there's no insulation on the 2 wires anymore, i'm assuming that has allot to do with my no start
@matthammond14469 жыл бұрын
What do you use to clean the IPR in this video? Is that a refillable spray bottle? Where could folks get one?
@DownfallSocieties9 жыл бұрын
Turns out all my voltages are fine. Still getting contribution codes for cyl2 and sometimes 28 with rough idle. idle psi measure in inMg idles at 1200 - and raises to 4550 under load. key on no start psi is 9-14inMg. PCIM - 48v constant, PCIM logic 13 also, never changes. PCIM V 47.5 - 49 constant. truck runs like crap when I pull the ICP. I cant measure the IPR with my scanner. but considering that this comes and goes away when it feels like it, hot or cold, doesnt matter. and only effects those two cylinders [which have been replaced already.] I am thinking its the FICM or the Harness. Worth replacing both?
@diegocharquero52599 жыл бұрын
Hi Ron, I have an 05 f450 6.0l from a customer. No start cold. its been sitting for idk how long. when he bought it, there were a few guys who got it start it, but the customer doesn't know what they did. It cranks fine, it hicups a lil a few times when i crank it for a 20-30 secs of more. So, i connected my snap-on scanner and i see the ICP reaching 1kish-2k but my IPR is on 85%. My ICP volts are good. I do not have a way to do an air leak because of i don't have it in my shop. I did notice oil everywhere, in the sides, on top, and on the back of the right side headers. Idk if its leaking of they messed everything up on an oil change. Could it be a bad IPR.?
@lajolla9510 жыл бұрын
ron, hopefully you still look at this...I had slow shift on my 3-4 on hard acceleration and had a rev limit or shutdown? But after pulling off the freeway I had a a no start. Have 14.8% and 0 at key on no crank and 85% and about 28-30 psi at crank. Definitely seems i have injector pressure issue, but i am not throwing any codes. Could this be a stuck IPR valve?
