I’m actually looking for a older SuperDuty because I bought a camper that would be pushing the towing capacity of my 19 Ranger and I don’t want to get rid of that. One with a standard trans but some rust on the wheel wells and other areas you’d expect. The other that has a Rebuilt title but looks really good other than that. And that truck has an automatic. Both are 4WD. The standard doesn’t have a brake controller, but this isn’t a big deal since I run a Curt brake controller on the Ranger that just bluetooths to my phone and plugs between truck 7way and trailer 7way
@six0bros
@six0bros Жыл бұрын
I would have a mechanic you trust look over the rebuilt title. I would find out why it has that title. Sometimes it is something very small and it isn't a big deal. I prefer an automatic over a standard in these trucks. You don't lose boost between shifting gears like you do in a standard. Plus rust sucks to deal with and can ruin a truck

Hi I’d like to know if my bullet proofed 2006 6.0L with no other mods could tow my 37 foot holiday rambler tri axle 5er? It says it weighs 12,000 on the title and my truck is 3/4 ton. Would that be too much work for the truck to handle?

Man camper is 13k give or take. Now that is loaded. So you should be fine depending how heavy you pack. I know guys that have towed 15k easily with their 6.0. I would recommend air bags, and double check your breaks make sure they are all good. Just to make sure but obviously a good brake controller.

I contacted Mishimoto over the same cooling problem. There are two different radiators that they offer for the 6.0. The one that sells for the $358.00 dollar range is the stock replacement. Do not buy this one if you are towing. I contacted Steve at Mishimoto after some guys on the Powerstroke.org forum made the recommendation. I was blown away by Mishimoto's customer service and they definitely made things right in my opinion even though my radiator was over a year old. If you are having problems with your radiator contact Steve, he is trying hard to make things right. I couldn't ask for more.

Your engine coolant temp. is way higher than my 07 6.0 towing my 10,000# 5th wheel. Mine runs between 200 and 215 unless I start to climb a steep grade (6-8%). I have a relatively new Ford oil cooler and my delta towing is about 8 degrees on level ground. Even pulling my 12' enclosed trailer loaded (about 2500# or 12,500# total) my delta stays below 10 degrees. At 65MPH I get about 11MPG. BTW I also have a MIshimoto radiator. When my engine temperature gets to 218 degrees, my engine fan gets extremely loud.
@six0bros
@six0bros 5 жыл бұрын
I have an updated review talking more on the radiator. Also it is hard to completely compare since my fifth wheel is a good bit heavier. All loaded up my setup is a little over 21k. Now that is with me in it. Not that my weight makes a big difference. The updated radiator that mishimoto sells instead of the cheaper one is much better at keeping temps down. I also replaced my fan clutch which seemed to engage at about 220 instead of 230. I do believe I have an oil cooler that is clogged and will be changed out next spring.

@jjsroofing860
@jjsroofing860 6 жыл бұрын
I don’t know the actual temp. Just have the stock gauge. I had a pyrometer installed for egts. I just hear the fans kick in . I never let the egt get over 1200 on hills. It’s on a sct towing tune. It’s an 06 F-250. I think the gearing is too high. At 66 mph the rpms are at 1700. That 6.0 is only happy around 2000-2300. On flat ground if I tow at 75-80 mph the motor is happy.

I need to change my injectors. I was thinking about going with dynamite diesel 175/30 along with a KC stage 2 turbo. I tow various weights on and off. I'm not sure now what to do injector wise. I wanted to go with brand new injectors but having trouble find 175/stock
@six0bros
@six0bros 3 жыл бұрын
175/30s you can get from Warren or holder. Very popular injector. Kc turbo stage 2 would be good if you tow really heavy or have big tires i would consider their stage 1.5 with the 10 blade turbine wheel if they still offer that I believe they let you change change wheel. You could also consider my sponsor turbotimeusa.com and use my affiliate code six0bros for 5% off their stage 2 turbo. The stages between the 2 companies are different. The stage 2 from turbo time is smaller than the stage 2 from kc but larger than the kc stage 1.5. Just as a heads up, any of those turbos would work well so there isn't a bad option there. Hope this helps

Here is another affiliate link to the slider hitch I have. Also comes with the rails. Most modern fifth wheels you will not need the slider for but I do still have it. Just make sure I like to have a little extra weight for the hitch so if my setup is 13 I would like to keep it at 15k. Not sure what the norm is but that's my preference. amzn.to/2VjSUuK

@six0bros 4 жыл бұрын
And I dont have issues with 90 turns even when not using the slider. You still need to be cautious but I stopped using the slider part of it when I got my current fifth wheel. It has the bottom corners angled back and that's most new campers

I hear you about buying parts that should work but don’t. I bought BD Diesel’s throttle sensitivity booster and worked good for about a month and it started making my truck run rough and then it goes back into re-learn mode while driving. Not good! Sent it back to them, which I had to pay for, and they “tested it”, then I’ve waited and waited for my product. Had to call them and was told oh yeah since we didn’t find anything wrong with it you have to pay for us to ship it back. So I did and then waited and had to call again. They told me, I guess shipping forgot to ship it. They had it for as long as I had it installed. So now I’m $40 out and the stupid thing still does it the same. I was about to do their shifter upgrade but I will not buy from BD Diesel ever again. I hope Mr. Banks makes his throttle booster for my application.

@six0bros
@six0bros 4 жыл бұрын
First thank you for the kind words man. Now I did not bore over in mine. If you choose to do that I would make sure it is as little as possible. You will not see a drastic performance increase with over bored engines. However for the sake of longevity on the build a 1 over is what I would do. The kc stage 2 turbo will be fine for towing.
