the 6.0 bros take you on one last towing review. The 6.0 powerstroke heavy towing review is what the 6.0 powerstroke is all about. There will be a future video talking about the Ford 6.0 powerstroke towing mods. The Ford 6.0 powerstroke towing mod video will list our top 5 towing mods for the 6.0 powerstroke. Do you think the mishimoto radiator will make the top 5? the 6.0 powerstroke towing capacity from factory is listed at 12.5k properly equipped. so do you think we have increased the 6.0 powerstroke towing capacity? I know we have have definitely increased the Ford 6.0 powerstroke towing power. From all the increased 6.0 powerstroke towing power we also needed to increase the cooling capacity. The mishimoto performance radiator did a great job of keeping coolant temps down even while pulling grades up to 2200 feet. the 6.0 powerstroke did a great job of towing the camper, and the mishimoto upgrade radiator kept coolant temps on average around 213. previously they were no less than 220 and frequently hit 230. so props to mishimoto for helping to make the 6.0 powerstroke perform much better than my previous towing trips. the 6.0 powerstroke was made to tow, and with all the added performance of this truck we needed a radiator that was going to help keep temps in check. the 6.0 powerstroke towing review is mainly a review of the new mishimoto upgraded radiator review. so far the mishimoto aluminum performance radiator has proven to be a great upgrade for the 6.0 powerstroke towing build. our built 6.0 powerstroke is towing a fifth wheel that weighs in at about 13,000 lbs.

I just pulled 20,000 combined weight with my 04 F-250 from Tampa to Colorado Springs with zero issues, and that's running 34.5 tires on the factory 3.73 gears. Temperature splits were fantastic until going from Oklahoma to Colorado Springs where we were climbing 3k feet in a few hours. Truck is studded and deleted, 40h tow tune and 40h FICM tune. Looking to re-gear to 4.30 probably to regain some torque lost to the new effective gear ratio, as well as the Odawgs SR2 intake and a stage 1 turbo, mainly for better air flow and exhaust temps while towing. Oh, airbags also make a hell of a difference... Love my 6.0 though!

I think I want to research my 6.0 to 4.3 since it's tires are the same size as yours. The stage 1 turbo will be a nice addition. I highly recommend turbotimeusa.com/SIX0BROS their 61mm turbo is a perfect for your build. That is an affiliate link that will also give you 5% off the turbo. 3k climb is a definitely up there just basically 1 long hill. The 6.0 still does a great job

You're pulling 500 pounds over what the truck is rated for from the factory. You're pulling hills, and you're averaging 70mph. Your oil temps are fine. My 6.0 has a brand new oil cooler and it'll touch 220 pulling 10,000. Your truck sounds healthy. I've got 270,000 on mine and she pulls like the day she rolled off the lot. Treat a 6.0 right and they'll treat you right. I thought about trading her in last year for a new one, but I couldn't do it. Instead I dumped 12k into the motor and I plan on having it for another 270k. Nice channel you got.

A 2005 F-250 SRW 4x4 Crew Cab is rated at 15,400 lbs of fifth wheel towing, so he's actually a few thousand pounds under at the least. The 12,500 lb number is only for conventional (using the receiver in the back) towing.

Cool video. Our 04 6.0 has 180k and also pulls our 12-12.5k fifth wheel with ease. Fully deleted, 7.3 fan clutch, Dieselsite water pump, blue spring kit, recent hpop and oil cooler, original head gaskets under TTY bolts. No DPF to worry about, dead reliable. Really like seeing other 6.0’s get the job done especially when many think they’re problem-ridden. Modifications to correct the design flaws make a perfectly reliable truck for a fraction of the cost of a new one.
@six0bros
@six0bros 4 жыл бұрын
Definitely. I made it to about 180k before a head cracked. I am looking at getting a short block for it soon, but I really push the limits. Long trip towing duties are going to my 6.7 now and I'll start pushing more hp in the 6.0 once it is back. Have a plan for my brothers truck to do a tow build once there is some money to do it. Have an exciting little build for that 6.0 focused on just towing mods and performance. Also doing a 6.0 vs 6.7 towing review soon

that much delta might be a little excessive, but your right the 15 degree delta is for unloaded, the part that matters is how fast does the oil temp come back down, a good oil cooler will bring the oil temp down quite quickly when the system is working correctly.

An F250/350 with the 6.0, SRW, Crew Cab, and 4x4, is rated for 15,400 lbs of fifth wheel towing. So if you're around 13k, you've still got plenty of head room. The 12.5k number is just for conventional towing.

For the 04s I know there was a lower number in 05 they bumped it up a bit. That said I always felt very safe towing that weight. Especially now that I have more experience. 05 there was a lot of changes bigger breaks, slightly different frame, different suspension.

@six0bros
@six0bros 4 жыл бұрын
This is actually a video I plan on making in the near future. I have filmed the initial towing review of my 6.7, and filmed installing my fifth wheel rails. So those 2 videos will be coming out in the coming week or so. After that i want to do a compare between the 2. I would say as for power mod modified 6.0 with a tow tune felt like it made more power than my 6.7. However when it was pretty much stock across the board other than an exhaust and a air intake I would say the 6.7 had a big lead in the towing department. I want to highlight some of the mods on the 6.0 that I felt evened out the playing field so to speak. I am still coming up with a scoring system to compare the different trucks. This will he the 3rd platform I will have towed with and I want to be able to give a fair score to each. The 6.0 with mods did tow like a monster lol

@six0bros
@six0bros 4 жыл бұрын
That really depends what are you comparing it to? So I definitely feel more than stock, but less than a race tune. Also a lot has to do with your overall setup like tire size and turbo size. For instance if you go up in tire size and turbo size you will put higher strain on the setup. I have never felt like I need more off the line with power hungry performance or with windrunner engineering. Typically though when i am towing i spend 98% of the trip on highways.

So I looked it up. It is 14,400 dry. On average unless you're hauling something big most dont haul more than about 1000 lbs. I know a lot of guys that tow 15k or so with that truck. Now I would recommend a good tow tune that also utilizes the vgt vanes as an exhaust brake along with the transmission braking. Maybe also check out some brake upgrades as well. That would be my biggest concern

@@six0bros I'm also curious about what kind of coolant pressure you are running. I can't seem to get any reliable info on coolant pressures while towing heavy. I make what seems like alot of coolant pressure but don't overheat, at least not anymore than the temps you are running. I have ruptured several degas bottles and finally just got an aluminum one. I kind of thought maybe I was having an issue but I have been running this way for years now so I'm just trying to see what others are experiencing. Problem is none of the info out there is while towing as so many guys out there buy these trucks just to drive them.

I really appreciate your videos. I purchased a stock 2006 6.0 dually a few weeks ago for pulling my 5th wheel. I am eating up any suggestions to keep my head gaskets in place. I already did an EGR delete and new oil cooler soon, coolant flush, sinister coolant filter and have a SCT X4 tuner strictly for monitoring, no juice, just stock tune. Going to have stand pipes, dummy plugs and blue spring mod installed soon. With all this what do you recommend (tips etc.) to preserve my head gaskets. Do you think deleting the Cat can help with keeping the truck cooler? Don’t really want to put in a full exhaust right now, already spent enough. I know a lot of guys are like me and would appreciate your feedback or better yet a video on this. Thanks. By the way, where are you at in PA? My family is from the Reading / Bernville area.
@six0bros
@six0bros 5 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the kind words man. Sounds like you have most of the bases covered. The tow series we are starting soon should actually be right up your alley for what you are looking at. The next things I would do is I would get some type of monitoring solution for exhaust temps and for fuel pressure. While fuel pressure will not blow headgaskets low fuel pressure will destroy your injectors. You do not want to see less than 45psi. Below that is when damage can occur. As for exhaust temps you definitely want them as low as you can get them, but being able to monitor if you're pushing the truck to hard is great. This way pulling a grade you can back out of the throttle a little if you need to. I will mark this done as a video topic to look into and try to make it in the next couple of weeks. Also glow shift makes a 3 in 1 gauge that allows you to monitor fuel psi, exhaust temps, and boost. I would look at buying that. For a tow build this should cover all your bases between that and your x4.

6.0 Bros I knew the area looked familiar. I think SCT has an exhaust sensor I can install so as to be able to read on the gauge screen is that correct ... and do you recommend it, or something else? It doesn’t monitor fuel pressure right?
@six0bros
@six0bros 5 жыл бұрын
For a tow build I have 2 solutions for monitoring. The cheaper solution is to use torque pro and glow shift sells a 3 in 1 gauge with fuel psi, egt, and boost. For a tow build that gauge is perfect because you should never be higher than I believe the 1500 egt that it goes to. Now the premium option is to get an edge cts2 and hook up the options for boost, fuel psi, and egt. Now depending on your tuner you may not need to install the boost gauge but it depends on who does the tuning. Now the first option if installed yourself is around $200, while the second one is probably closer to the 700 ish area once you buy and install the accessories. I haven't officially priced that unit out yet

Also I do not recommend the sct for monitoring just for tuning

I am going to have to check my fan speed. I can’t even tell if it’s kicking on but usually I have the a/c on so maybe it is always on. I usually have 230 eot and 220 ect when pulling in 95 degree weather. Just got a 11k lb fifth wheel so I will see how it does this spring/summer when it heats up. I have a new cooler and have it studed and the whole deal, so those temps are normal! Don’t let people tell you they aren’t.
