6.0L TURBO LS2 VP Commodore Ute gets REASSEMBLED! | [RADIAL RUNABOUT!] - Ep7.

Welcome back to the Radial Runabout build series!
Our buddy Liam has dropped in for us his VP Commodore ute, and Kurt has a BUNCH of fabrication work to do on this beast...
Well, the fun and games continue on this Turbo LS Commodore ute and we're on the home stretch! All that's left is to mount the B&M Transcooler, modify the steering rack position to clear the starter motor, and put it all back together!
This is an SBE LS2 6.0L V8 with a Borgwarner 80mm T6 turbo. Will be backed by a Reid case Powerglide and hopefully go ~850rwhp. Stoked to have it back together and ready for its next stage of plumbing and wiring.

Cheers Juz! Hopefully the rack mods work out well, steering feels a touch firm right now but a new reco rack and plumbed astra pump will tell how well it has worked out in the end. And you're not wrong about ls stuff, we love a good turbo ls combo, your cars are great examples of that! But we definitely like atleast a small amount of variety when it comes to engine combos and vehicle makes and models. I had to laugh when watching your wagon just kick the tyres at any speed in your latest video. Ridiculous! Thanks for watching a always mate.

I moved my rack down 35mm an cleared standard starter

I never thought of moving the rack down. Great idea, I know there can be potential for issues with bump steer when moving too far out of the designed geometry range up or downwards. I'll keep that in mind in case I ever have to look at that job again. Cheers mate.

Thanks Jon! Yeah Liam will have housing, manifolds and dump ceramic coated, and I'm pretty sure the intercooler piping will be powdercoated aswell. Thanks for watching mate 👌🏻

Hey mate got another question what did u guys end up doing with the rack tie rods when u moved it that 20 mm ? Did You rethread the short one and replace the longer side ? TIA

From memory we ended up leaving the factory rack end in the short side(we didn't cut more threadinto it) and replacing the longer side with a rack end from a vt-vz commodore. It hasn't had a wheel alignment yet though so could be subject to slight change. Vt rack end is 329mm long with rack thread being m14x1.5 and rod end being m16x2. Cheers mate

Can you tell me what you have done to even out the steering lock after moving the rack across please. I have this issue atm with my VN having near on drift lock to the left and only getting about 3/4 or the standard lock to the right. Cheers Steve

Hey Steve. So on the passenger side the rack will use a longer VT rack end, and the drivers side rack end shortened to suit. Make sure your rack is in a neutral (straight) position when the intermediate shaft is reinstalled.

how do you stop rubber hitting/getting into the cooler under the car when doing a burnout?

The mufflers that will sit either side once the exhaust is completed in phase 2 will cop the majority of debris

Nah we're not looking at opening up the air dam in the bumper at this stage mate. It's a really nice cooler with good efficiency so we'll see how it holds up. No doubt more air flow would certainly help drop the intake air temp more than the current sleeper/hidden fitment though that's for sure.

It's a PWR 64601 radiator with Spal 16" 2460cfm thermo fan mate.
