Thank you for the filter problem fix. I found that filter and housing on Amazon with free shipping. Price was a little more, but with rockauto charging for shipping, it’s about the same.

you ever think about putting a 6.2 Turbo on this thing? I drive a naturally aspirated 6.2 and it's literally getting to slow to keep up with traffic!..... Love the video.
@Lordofjunk
@Lordofjunk 2 жыл бұрын
I actually have considered installing a turbo. 6.2's are sluggish in stock form. that being said, mine keeps up with traffic pretty good. it's not fast, but it keeps up. look at turning the fuel screw up a little bit and advancing pump timing a couple of degrees. a homemade ram air system and free flowing exhaust helps too. and the best mod you can make is installing lower gears. I have done all of this. all of this his will wake it up quite a bit without a turbo.
@paulherzmann6237
@paulherzmann6237 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks I’ll look into those things… I originally meant to say have you thought of putting 6.5 turbo setup ON the 6.2… That would include bigger injectors, Bigger fuel injection pump, bigger Eleverything! But I definitely will look into turning to fuel screwup in the meantime. Keep some vids coming. Subscribed!

When you say lowering the gears, Do you mean making the gears shorter? I have got them as low as possible in terms of adjusting the throttle cable. But I don’t know any other way

i meant changing the gears in the differential. I went from 3.73 to 4.10.

Hello so I am wanting to install a electric fuel pump with relay. I did the Napa fuel filter conversion. I wish I would have found this video beforehand because yours has both in one unit. My question is, do I install the electric fuel pump right after the tank? Or somewhere close to the filter ? Or between filter and mechanical fuel pump? Etc etc.

Wonder if the 6.2/6.5 blocks have a bolt that you remove and put in a longer bolt to hold the fuel pump push rod like the small block Chevy's

Do you know why my 85 GMC 6.2 diesel loses prime and quites running after I turn off the electric fuel pump. I have installed electric fuel pump, manual fuel pump, checked all lines and bypassed the switch valve. I have not missed with the fuel lines at the gas tank. Thanks any help would be appreciated
@Lordofjunk
@Lordofjunk 3 жыл бұрын
sounds like you have a bad check valve. my suburban has a check valve on the front crossmember. you could always run a hose from the suction side of your electric fuel pump into a bucket. that would tell you quickly if the problem is by the fuel tanks or toward the engine.

I see the wiring for the water and fuel was the same colored just the different plug, how do you wire the fuel the heater? seemed a little vague can you elaborate? which wires go where?
@Lordofjunk
@Lordofjunk 3 жыл бұрын
the fuel heater is easier than the water in fuel light. fuel heater has a red and a black. the truck has a red and a black. cut the connectors off and match colors with butt connectors.

Can I prime a p3710 Fram fule filter without taking it off?
@Lordofjunk
@Lordofjunk 3 жыл бұрын
yeah sorta. if you are priming it without taking the filter off, you have to back fill the filter with one of the fuel hoses. it's easier to just take off a spin on and prime it that way.

@Lordofjunk
@Lordofjunk 2 жыл бұрын
it would appear that rockauto doesn't list it anymore. I just checked it. Amazon is also out of stock. just put gf647 in Google, and several different suppliers will pop up. carID and jegs showed some in stock.

@@Lordofjunk, it seems that particular filter is scarce as hen's teeth now. And the latest trick for the online suppliers is to take your order, charge your card and then tell you the next day they don't have it, jegs being one of three that have done it so far to me. And of course it takes at least 5 days to get credited back to the card. Could you highlight the important features/specs to look for in finding another substitute? Racor PFF4245 appears close but i'm wary of the in & out ports being same size and not changeable threaded fittings.

I had someone help me ( first mistake)replaced fuel tank with larger version. Just got Alt. Belts tightened. Nice n quiet.(for a diesel) then I think fuel pump seem let go. My "helper" I think,reversed lines on back and maybe got sending unit backwards. So have been running off of Jerry Can on passenger seat with fuel line through vent window. And he didn't put firewall filter on properly either. Spraying all over the engine. Fixed filter,had running...fixed belt squeal....seam let go. Stranded in middle of yard. Always something. But anybody who has ever worked on tired iron knows the "real deal". That's just the way it is.
