Part of me wants to throw a HE351 on my 6.5 with a tune but I have a first gen cummings also and a turbocharged 383 sbc yukon. I feel like I would be making an unneeded compromise. I do drive my 6.5 99% of the time. Love the truck though ! This video defiantly makes me want to . Was there that much of an improvement?

Debating between a 2nd gens Cummins and another 6.5 and can't decide. I've had the 6.5 already and loved it but my truck had transmission issues so I sold it. The Cummins is nice but the gas mileage on the 6.5 is unbeatable stock and 2nd gen Dodges seem to have lots of issues.

Darrien Richardson mileage will be similar, GM makes a nicer truck, Cummins is a better motor, GM automatics are much better, Dodges rot out more, Dodges go for more money. Pick your poison

Owen Williams no, it spools slower. Bigger exhaust housing means less back pressure but you do sacrifice spool speed. I wouldn't go back to stock though.

@@stevebento2711 no idea. This truck was lifted on 35’s with 3.73’s when the turbo blew up. If it was a manual with that same setup it would have been laggy. But if it was on 31’s with 4.10’s it probably would have been fine

sillydrunkguy if you have a tune or a turned up DB2 and you aren't running 35's or bigger, do a 40. Otherwise do a 35. Quadstar tuning has the hookup on turbos and tunes.

Jake Hat the turbo blew up about a year and a half ago. It was used when I put it on so can’t really blame it. It got replaced with a Borg S300. I have a GoPro video of it too if you look on my channel.

Jake Hat many factors involved. You can’t buy the turbo I had new. It was built by combining parts from an HX40 and an HX35. The closest thing you can get would be a Quadstar Super 60. And that would last just fine.

What're emissions like where you live?

If your GVW is over 10k, you are exempt. Otherwise, diesel emissions in CT is a sniffer test to measure exhaust opacity under normal driving conditions. This truck went thru last week and got 1% out of an allowable 20%. It smokes down low until it either downshifts or the turbo spools. Otherwise is runs quite clean.

Just an adapter from the metric o-ring thread in the turbo to a -6 male, retained the stock feed line.

pacificdrumma do you have duramax money to give me? 😂😂😂 i dont think so so i have no choice ive had the truck since i was 16 it has 428,000 miles and it has pulled up to 18k with just a few things done with it head gaskets just went in it im getting a engine with 120k very soon... ive been doing landscaping for a while with a 2nd gen ram gasser i have a class A cdl but do to injury from car accident i couldn't drive anymore so im back to work but doing my own thing just dipped into transportation ive been hauling cars trucks selling pallets and driving cars and other trucks for people it seemed like u had alot of knowledge about the 6.5 but idk everyone i know who has had one pulls with it they work them like i said i never had problems with mine its a diesel engine i dont think gm would have used this engine for 8 years if no one could haul with it like i said im not just starting out but im not big either i just dont have the funds for a $10,000 truck right now why are u so against the 6.5 and working it?

Xyz250loverX if I was going to build a truck to tow heavy, it would be a cummins/6spd or a 6.7 Ford. A 6.5 simply isn't designed to handle heavy weight all the time. Sure they are cheap to work on and easy to fix but it's not the right engine for what you are trying to do. Mine is getting a duramax and a zf6.
