Thanks for the great video. As a sidenote, it has been rumored that the Barnes bullets don’t like to follow in a barrel that has not been cleaned after shooting, gilding metal ammunition. If you would’ve done the test and the opposite direction after cleaning the bar, you might not have had that one dropped Schott with the Barnes ammunition. Great vid. Great caliber.

I read that CVA uses Bergara barrels. On the match ammo your first shot your rifle rest device slid off the table. That was the shot that was bullseye but low from the other two shots that were touching. That shot should have been done over. The Barnes is what it is, all 4 shots count, so that is over a 1” group. In my opinion the match ammo were the best group. WTW!!!

Who Tee. Love the content. Keep it coming. In my experience even premium rifles shoot the cold bore shot completely differently than every shot after that. Might consider firing one or two shots to heat the barrel, when doing a straight comparison of one type/brand of ammo versus another. The Berger in this video didn't shoot poorly at all, but it was the cold bore shot was furthest from the rest. Would be interesting to see how a 3 shot group, after the cold bore is warmed.

Hornady recently posted a video on their reduced drag technology. Basically, they found flat tips significantly reduce variability caused by the shockwave cone with supersonic ammo. Supposedly, this is why Open Tip Match ammo is more consistent. I'm curious how the ammo with the plastic tips would perform with their tips filed down flat. I've read elsewhere that some hunters were aware of this and would file down the points of their ammo, but I've never heard of such a thing...

I would run the Barnes 130gr again if not sure, but they really do penetrate good. Be a good load for hunting bigger critters. I run the little 80gr Ttsx @3400 in my Tikka 243 and they hold together, penetrate like a heavy for caliber bullet. Monolithic bullets just need more speed so it would cut some distance on a hunting shot.

I believe the match ammo deserves another round. You interupted between the first round and the next two. Your sled was repositioned at another angle which also changed the point of origin and the shooter stance. If the last two rounds were any indication then your gun prefers this ammo above all the rest.

After receiving a SAAMI spec chamber in 7PRC, I have to get a custom reamer because the Berger 180 and 190 bullets are sleeker than the Hornady bullets. At the jam, the Berger 190 is only secured by the neck of the case, which is only a total of .1805” when the neck of the case is roughly .269”. Has anyone had this issue?
@derekmcmurry
