Okay, the whole thing was amazing but getting Abobo to throw the player up on the balcony where Willy is waiting was mind-blowing. First time I've seen that in 35 years. Would have never imagined that part of the scenery would be a real platform you could walk on, much less start hitting the final boss while he's still up there. This was a lot of fun

Some DD machines had 1 life, so you had to assure yourself a win by elbowing your way to the end. Other machines gave you 3 lives to start, so you could afford to be more cocky.

27 enemies fell or were dropped to their deaths ("boulder guy" at the end doesn't count, that's a glitch.) all bosses except first one were dropped, oddly the first boss put up the most resistance, taking 3 knife throws to defeat. what a strange game.

This arcade board had two 8-Bit CPUs, and that's where the slowdown comes from. if it had one CPU with a 16-Bit address bus then it would have been fine.

You can see the memory limitations on the game in action. Bogs down when too many enemies are on screen. Try the Genesis version to see if you can match the time. Same game but better processing.

The original hardware sets for arcade were just as slow [making this video arcade perfect]. Back when the game was first released, there a mix of fast and slow machines. This was due to the fact there were some bootleg hardware sets released back in the 80s out that had better processor/memory specs. There's also one insanely [for the 80s] good bootleg board out there that had dual processors or something... but the ROM for it cant be used... because of encryption :( if I can ever get my hands on encrypted ROM for that I'll redo my two player TAS Thanks for the question - that's a good one.

Awesome speedrun. But the only thing I didn't get was how hit poits didn't decrease even when he was hit. I don't remember the game that well but is it a game thing or a cheat?

I don't use cheats at all [the site to which I submit these TAS speed runs - they don't allow it]. Thats interesting point though about the health bar. You start the game with 53HP. And I take about 20HP worth of damage in this run [lots of hit trades]. Why my health bar hasn't lost any bars - I have no idea. I know the formula for removing each square in the health bar isn't an exact science... but it does seem odd there are no bars removed at all [maybe a glitch from hit trading?] I'll have to do some testing with memory inspector on to see what's happening
