[TAS] Arcade Double Dragon by sugarfoot in

Set in a post-apocalyptic New York, Double Dragon is the story of Billy and Jimmy Lee, twin brothers trained in the fighting style of Sou-Setsu-Ken. Together, they manage a small martial arts training school, teaching their students in self-defense. One day, Billy's girlfriend, Marian, is kidnapped off the street by the "Black Warriors", a savage street gang led by a man named Willy. The Black Warriors demand the Lee brothers disclose their martial arts secrets in exchange for Marian's freedom. The Lee brothers set out on a rescue mission to crush the Black Warriors and save Marian.
Released on many systems, this game was so popular that they even released it for cellular phones and made a board game. Even a Hollywood movie (imdb.com/title/tt0106761/) has been made.

4:43 if you set the game to Very Hard, the difficulty is higher, but the bricks will NOT come out of the wall. Considering that they are probably the most difficult part of the whole game, I think it's a good option to do it.

Amazing little known fact... at the end when she unleashed herself, broke a foot with the drop and so the hero carried her all the way back to level 1 which was a heavier burden than dropping all those bad guys to their deaths.

1987 Technōs Japan presents... *Dropping Dragons!* a) in total 30 enemies fell/got dropped to their deaths. b) in 2nd level even the hero joins the dropping party! c) all bosses get defeated by a drop, except 1st boss. d) before dropping to his death, final boss drops from balcony holding a bigass machine gun without injuring himself, admire that! e) the game begins and ends with a drop: a girl is punched and drops, kidnapped girl drops from the rope. f) drinking game: knock back a shot after each drop!

I encountered some crashing issues with this game recently and was suggested I ask here for some info. Basically, right at the end of the fight with Willy when the ending is supposed to play out, an arcade cab that I was playing on crashed. It immediately cut to the ROM check screen and failed on the 63701 check. I'm curious if this is something common to a certain version of the game, or perhaps can be manipulated in the game somehow? Any info. is much appreciated!

I'm the author of this TAS vid. Sorry I can't help much in regards to the crash. I have seen the 63701 crash reproduced in an end game glitch compilation video. If it always happens, I assume you have bad board or something. You may also want to take a look at the source code for double dragon in MAME. Might contain contact info for the developers who ported the game

I hate how much slowdown the arcade game had and much preferred the Mega Drive/Genesis version for having no slowdown. In fact, it's fixed so good, the TAS time on that version is nearly halved from here.

OMG, The music sounds so much better on the NES. It looks like the NES version had significantly better fluidity in its gameplay too. Of course, the Arcade had better graphics & could put more characters on screen at the same time, but it caused way too much lag (based on what I'm seeing here; none of the arcades in my hometown had a Double Dragon cabinet.)

it's unfortunate the original arcade specs were so laggy. it's even worse with 2 player mode - I just completed a 2p TAS for it and it's pretty rough
