He wouldn't be getting away with that forever though, considering he copulated with most of his victims dismembered heads and left DNA all over the place, the police would've caught up with him

@@Pherioxus yeah but unless he was convicted of another felony and they got his DNA or he ended up being a suspect there wouldn't be a sample to match it to so the scary part is he could in theory have got away with it especially if he eventually stopped. @@tigernotwoods914 Him killing his mother and her friend pretty much the same way would've set some alarm bells off for some detectives, one background check on his history of killing his grandparents and then suddenly his mom and her friend got beheaded the same way those college girls got killed? That should be really suspicious, he could talk his way out of it but not for long either, evidence would continue to pile up against him, they could collect his DNA before or after interrogations during the investigation and it'd be over for him.

Honestly don't understand why everyone says that the Mindhunter depiction of Kemper was so great. It seems like a really good depiction only if you never actually watch an extended clip of Kemper talking. Mindhunter way over dramatized him in the show and made him seem like your generic weirdo serial killer who obviously did not belong in normal society when in reality the real Kemper was way more interesting with how well adjusted he was socially and how genuine he seemed with his self awareness. I think Manson was depicted way better in that show.

The thing that struck me the most is not about who is responsible or how insufferable of a "monster" Ed is or not the tangible details of this archive like the characters, their personalities, their past etc., but on a totally different note, how dangerously powerful levels our minds have evolved into, and how this serves as a reminder to always be in check of what you're doing, thinking, and allowing to simmer, all the things that have affected you as you wouldn't know how it would manifest and to what scales. The mind has reached a stage where it is able to detach itself subconsciously from an identity and able to latch onto any form that can foster the growth of the energy of its thoughts to manifest (like in this case, all the past traumas and a few other cues fuelling the circumstances leading upto such a horrible tragedy). Take care everyone, be safe and healthy (especially emotionally).!

I find it interesting how the man he's become (education/personality wise) is such a huge contrast from his childhood life. If his mother at the very least treated him like a human, then maybe he would've become such a decent person.

His mother was to blame, and the lack of a father. The mother seemed to be more focused on logical thinking and had high expectations. She didn’t know how to express or empathize with the emotions of herself and others. Her husband had it all, tall rich and handsome, but she wanted a prince and not a human. She abused, she manipulated, she was the worse type of human being. If she even had the lowest form of Empathy, that even sociopaths could possess, maybe her son wouldn’t become a killer. But to me, she was evil. She had high esteem, high expectations, always studied and relied on her logic thinking. My mom is the complete opposite of Ed’s mother. Kind, welcoming, I had emotional support. He had none and his abuse led to bad developments that caused the deaths of innocents.

By god, what a strange, strange man, he confesses his crimes to the police and they don't believe him, then he requests the death penalty and is denied, he is thought to be completely normal by psychiatrists and he makes dolls from his victims heads, I think he was beyond the comprehension of everyone, a sick psychopath obviously but wtf?

This is so important to tell this origin part of Ed Kemper’s story. I was raised in the SF Bay Area and my husband was raised in Santa Cruz. We’ve heard plenty of stories about Ed Kemper, his grandparents, and his victims. But this part of the story is rarely told. It’s so important we understand the psychological damage parents can inflict on their children, even from birth. The ripple is cast far and wide.

I find him the most interesting of serial killers because out of all of them he has done some of the most heinous stuff but still comes across as personable and likeable. Bundy is always brought up as an example of someone who was unassuming, handsome, smart blah blah but in all his interviews he comes across as insincere, conniving and manipulative. I dont get that from Kemper. Thats whats scary. He can act "normal" and engaging.
