6.9 IDI Rebuild Update

We wanted to take a minute to update everyone on where the 6.9 IDI rebuild is at. After we broke the motor completely down we started rebuilding it, so far we have the pistons back in with new rings, camshaft in place, the oil pick up tube and oil pan it's a new oil pan is on the bottom of the motor.We have also painted the block on the bottom side International Gray. Got a 93f250 4x4 outback with ablowwed HG between 7,8 and zf as well, glad parts are still plenty and prices are stupid cheap in comparison to power smokes

I thought the cam shaft gear has timing marks on it so you can just throw in the stage 1 cam without any worry

The directions for this cam from Justin at R&D Performance is to advance the cam gear 1 tooth. I am not certain about other idi cam shafts but I actually called him on the phone about it versus the pump gear just to make sure.

@@wrenchbenders did you guys end up replacing the cam bearings too

We plastigaged all the bearings and they were still at factory spec. So we ended up not replacing any of the bearing. The motor only had 17,000 miles on it when my father-in-law got it.

Just had to shim. Other than that they were like direct replacement.

Do you have the part number for the total seal rings for the 6.9?

I did not order them by part number. I bought them through Justin @ R&D Performance. I will look and see if I can find the part number on them.
