I bought an Rv last year with a 6.9 IDI with 90k miles. Looked awesome inside when we pulled the valve cover and the thermostat housing. I was so stoked.

I used a very similar kit for an in-frame on my 6.2. Same brand pistons and rings. I love IDIs

I don't like 6.2s because they are the same 350 block and stuff like that and also where just thrown together

@@saunchonass9231 you're thinking of the oldsmobile 350 diesel. 6.2s are completely different.

The slack in the gears will mostly go away when it warms up. If they were tight cold it would brake them when they heat up and expand. Also, thanks for the video, very interesting and neat to see one apart.

Good to see it's finally coming back together. I'm glad my 6.9 won't need a rebuild in my life. Hit 15 degrees Saturday night. Fired right up fairly easy. It's very healthy and runs great, but when it gets so cold her idle is a little cranky. But only for 5 maybe 10 seconds

@@tuckercole1531 I no longer have the truck. It was far too rusty and had plenty of problems so I parted it out. Engine and front axle and suspension all sold for more than I had in the truck. Now I just have a couple 7.3 IDIs, one with a turbo

I went the r&d idi performance route with the forged con rods from a psd 7.3 wanted the reassurance of a fully balanced rotating assembly and file fit to compression.

@@ThisGuysStuffandStuff I'm not sure maybe 10 the biggest for me was I'm governed at 4000 rpm which is a lot for such a heavy rotating assembly it help take a tremendous amount of stress off of the crank and block
