That's simply not true. There were actually more skilled, uber athletic big men in the 90's and early 2000's than there are today Dominique Wilkins, Larry Nance, Shawn Kemp, Kevin Garnett come to mind. But there were many more freaks of nature back then.

What’s crazy is, he can get this high while he doesn’t seem to have a very well developed approach/ runnup on his jumps off 2-feet (in comparison with the best jumpers, based on 15 years of my observations). He just kind of does a jump-stop. What I’m saying is - He could be MORE EFFICIENT in his horizontal-to-vertical momentum and force redirection/ translation & get even higher. CRAZY. Anyway, his current approach seems to work well for his long levers and kangaroo achilles tendons. A more refined approach with more speed brought into his plant & a bit of a bigger quad and glute engine... I don’t even want to imagine... 👽👽👽

its not a jump stop, some people tend to have shorter penultimates. For example eyesonheight has a relatively short penultimate and he's jumping 50 inches.. I don't believe stride lengths matter as much for dunking as they do for sprinting or long jumping. Yes most elite jumpers have long penultimates, but maybe the ones with shorter ones are actually more efficient because it means they can produce the same amount of force without having to reach as far.

Nah not mental toughness just technique and timing/fluidity. To me it looks like he doesn’t have it, and when you’re that skinny in the league you need to have that next level game IQ. I predict he’ll be a Javale and maybe not because even javale got some good size and could defend pick and rolls
@jreddicktube
@jreddicktube 2 жыл бұрын
Well I hate to say KG is in a whole different level than McGee, KG is a 15 time all-star, MVP of the league and top 75 player of all time while McGee is and has always been a role player and rim protector. If I were to guess based off the tape and this guys college stats of 4.5pts, 4blocks and 4 rebounds a game he is looking more like McGee than KG. Yes he can jump really high, but in the modern NBA you need to be able to dribble drive, shoot the 3 pointer and have a mid range game or post game. His highlights are all dunks from lobs or passes down low. He will go either undrafted or late second round and straight to the G-league to work on his shot and adding muscle and weight to his upper and lower body.

I looked this guy up because I was curious...he averaged 4.7 points per game at UT-Arlington last season, and is committed to transferring to Memphis. The athleticism that he shows in this video helped him to be one of the best shotblockers in the nation with 2.5 bpg. I was thinking "Is this guy a legit NBA prospect?" but then I saw that he averaged less than 5 ppg at Texas-Arlington. With his athleticism and length he has potential though! And he looks like he needs to add some bulk. He will get a bigger chance to prove himself at Memphis. Good luck to him. Freak athlete for sure
